Really hope that's what Trent turns into.
I don't see Mac Alli as an attacking midfielder. He's more of a CM.

But we don't really play with an AM/number 10. I half wish we did, as there's players who could thrive there. I wouldn't overly say de bruyne was that kind of player either. He's more attacking as he has such a strong base behind him.

I think Ali is our answer to ball progression from CM, maybe trent could be on the opposite flank (should that come to pass) . We ideally need a stable base to midfield and it should work out nicely

Why would i reach out to a prick? Mans acting like jargon doesn't exist.

Here are the other relevant citations:

1832: “Dinner was going forward.” (From Life in the Wilds, a parable by the political economist Harriet Martineau.)

The real question is - Can Taylor Swift fill in at RB so that Trent can play in midfield.

Similar to Binny, I'd sign a fast, tall right-sided CB, who also has experience at RB.

I'm unconvinced about the combined fitness and remaining quality in VVD, Konate, Matip and Gomez to give us a base to kick on from. In contrast, the emergence of Bajectic and Trent into the midfield, the re-emergence of Jones, the signing of Mac Allister, and the link to Thruam give me a bit of faith that the midfield will have the legs and energy to carry out Klopp's instructions. Signing the profile of the player mentioned above also gives us opportunities to push Trent forward and occupy a permanent midfield slot if it's needed.

Admittedly the above also relies on Bajectic and Jones being able to put in 30-plus games in a supporting role, but I'd back them to do that over Gomez and Matip, who have a long track record on their being held together by straw. Jones seems to pick up weird, unfortunate injuries, like being poked in the eye, and Bajectic, whilst needing to put on some muscle, does have youth on his side and is yet to deserve an 'injury-prone' status.

You’re right, it has been proven time and time again that injury prone backups are a bad idea. They’re never ready even you need them. It’s why Nat Phillips persisted and Milner got so many minutes for so long. Shaq, Origi, Keita, Ox, late stage Bobby, current Matip / Gomez all rarely ready when called upon, Thiago will probably join the club too.

Do we think Van den Berg could potentially fill the RB / RCB backup slot.

He missed a lot of games last season, but other than that he hasn’t missed many games through injury.

I think you have to start higher up the pitch first. The whole counter-pressing philosophy is about winning the ball as high up the pitch as possible. Our forward line - assuming Darwin evolves into a top class forward - is set up to press, is fast enough to take advantage and I've got faith that Gakpo can knit things together. Our midfield though had completely collapsed last season, exposing the inherent weakness of the high line. The high line defensively only works with a effective pressing midfield in front of it. Alexis is a good signing; we now need someone physically dominant to play in there, because none of our other midfielders are.

I can't say I've seen enough of him to say. He's only ever established himself at Preston, which doesn't fill me with confidence.

@Pesam might be better placed to know.

Yeah, it’s a shame he got that injury last season because if he’d established himself at Schalke that might have suggested he might be capable of progressing with us.

He’s only about a year older than Levi Colwill and is over a year younger than Guehi, who I saw us linked to earlier.
