Premier League Payments

For Context:
Man U = 60
Man City 58
Arsenal = 57
Spurs = 55
Chelsea, Liverpool = 54

Again, our historical support base and brand, keeps us up there with the big boys, even if our football has us mid-table. Something to be grateful for.

I can see the fuss over the overseas payments.
It's pathetic and needs to be sorted. People pay to watch Liverpool and Scum first and foremost, followed by Chelsea, Arse, and recently ManC.
It's ridiculous that all teams get paid equal.

I dunno about that. If we are coming in seventh in the league and doing this well, it may not be so bad. If our performance continues downhill on the pitch, then we'll have to be glad of this system.

I cant agree. Without some competition to make at least in the places below those clubs who have billionaire owners as equal as possible the entire league becomes shit.

Personally I think the money should be distributed down the leagues to some degree too. A couple of percent between the lower league clubs could keep 'grass roots' football alive & well.

The start of the new TV deal in August will bring in yet more extraordinary amounts of money.

Even clubs such as Norwich, Southampton, Stoke City, West Brom and Fulham, who only appeared in the minimum 10 games stipulated for live match allocations, can expect to pocket around the £60.8m - the highest broadcast payment any winner has received - that Manchester United earned last season.

Next term's champions will be receiving around £100m from TV appearances, merit payments that depend on where each club finishes in the league and facility fees each time a club’s matches are on TV in the UK.

All international broadcast revenue is split equally amongst the 20 clubs.

Our 7th place finish earned us around £10.5m prize money.

The alternative is that you end up with a bankrupt league like they have in Spain with Barca and Madrid thrashing their opponents every weekend.

You could argue however that if we were one of the top two teams it might not be so bad!

Totally agree.. but it will never happen.. otherwise this will have been done by now...

Football at grass roots is in mess.. and well we have the premier league to thank for that as well..

The lack of English Talent coming through is very alarming to say the least...

But that's completely different.
I'm not saying teams sell international broadcasting rights on their own.
The league should do it, and with TV stations giving out viewing figures it should be easy enough to figure out which teams are responsible for the majority of contracts throughout the world. Then do a tiered system.

Realistically speaking that of course won't happen, so at least do the same as local broadcasting rights and give more to those that finish higher up the league.
It's just crazy to think that QPR gets the exact same amount of money as two clubs that have the biggest supporter base in the world.
