Preferred front 3

I'm waiting for diaz to come back and remind me why i love him

Provisionally
Nunez Jota Salah (only if on form)

Can see me switching to

Nunez Jota Diaz

We play our best when we have to consistent pacy threats down the left and right. For me, thats nunez and diaz now, as salah (while still having pace) is breaking down so many attacks a game and not getting past the first man. Diaz I feel can be great on the right.

Diaz might not be the same so can't include him straight away without seeing what he is loke. Salah is top scorer, we look better with Jota and Nunez offers something different.

It was good to have a player that is willing and knows how to press up front last night. For that reason alone I'd be inclined to stick Jota in for now.

I'm not on board the Nunez hype train yet. He's a mile off the quality we've become accustomed to in recent years and the fact that he's our most dangerous player is part of the problem... but... doesn't change the fact that he is and he has to play.

Then I guess Krusty.

You need to get on the train early, otherwise you'll end up standing next to the homeless person stinking of piss

Tough call, as none of them have been tested on the right so Salah is there by default but on this season's performances he doesn't make it for me. However there is no proven option to move there. I think my preferred three individuals across the front three would be Diaz, Jota & Nunez as it stands.

We are very close to having six great options across the front three.

Left - Diaz & Nunez
Centre - Jota & Gakpo
Right - Salah & *insert understudy e.g. Doak or Gordon*

Too early to say as Gakpo and Nunez are finding their feet and Jota and Diaz have been out most of the year. We're not ready for this right now, but I'd like to see what a front four would look like with Bajectic/Thiago and Fabinho holding.

---------------------Nunez----------------
Diaz/Jota/Gak------------------Salah/Elliott---
---------------Gakpo/Elliott----------------
---------Bajectic----------Fabinho

Long term we need to figure out a way to get Nunez playing centrally and getting the consistent service he needs.

I'll do you 1 better Wola and say Borini Balotelli Markovic!

Elliott shouldn't be near the starting team. He's not as good as Doak as an attacking RW and, if Mo isn't starting for whatever reason, playing Diaz there gives us options to play 2 from 3 of Nunez/Jota/Gakpo on the LW + Centre.

Firmino is still here too. Not sure if we'll be able to say the same after the Summer.

LW : Diaz or Nunez
Centre : Nunez/Gakpo/Jota (this all depends on the opposition/injuries/who is LW)
RW : Mo / Diaz / Doak

Agree that Gakpo can play as the AM too.

So good to have options. Now give us that in Midfield and hope Ramsey comes good at RB and we're sorted.

I despise the fact we've got 2 insanely talented 10s, yet we don't play that way

The kid is a crock and a lightweight.... Fab C should get more involvement than he has so far. May be Klopp's working with him and we will see more of him next year.

Do you think Doak has had enough game time to come to that conclusion?

Thing is, elliott burst on to the scene with similar attributes to Doak, and has then been converted to a cm by klopp. I don't think it's particularly fair to malign one while praising the other. One has shown a strong work ethic and desire to prove himself. One had shown a directness and good technical ability. One has done it for 2 seasons in the first team, one has done it in 20 minutes

Doak is a much better fit for us in that RW position, of course that burst of pace and flash of skill helps.....unlike Harvey he's able to drop the shoulder and breeze past a player or 2.

Harvey is better when he drops deep into pockets of space and can play though looping or curling balls in behind (from a fairly central position)

Yes. Next question?

With some players you can just see they've got it. He's got it - whatever it is.

In this instance with Doak, he's got it, but i disagree with the idea he's done more than elliott; especially when elliott has barely been given a run out on the wing

Elliott is 100% more David Silva than he is Salah. I personally hate the fact we're under-utilising him

Under utilising how? He was playing most the minutes until recently and he looked poor....didn't suit our game at all. Not sure what changed last night (maybe it was the rest) but he looked infinitely better and more involved in the play.

I think Elliott is being shoe horned into a position he’s not suited but giving it a go. He needs to be further up and isn’t a chalk on his boots kind of forward. Like Carvalho he doesn’t suit our system.

Elliott just doesn't have that ability (and pace) to go past defenders. He has vision but, IMO, difficulty in executing it. I'm not sure he'll make the grade if I'm honest. Though obviously I want him to, but in what position? We already have better players in every position he could be considered (and with surely at least 2 new midfielders this coming Summer will he even make the bench)?

Note I didn't say he's done more than Elliott - just that I believe (from cameos and reserve matches) that Doak has 'it' and Elliott doesn't.

I think elliott 100% has it. The problem is as i've said, he's being used in incorrect areas and our system isn't set u for a player of his talents. Klopp wouldn't be shoehorning him in if he didn't have it.

Most minutes in positions he doesn't excel. If we started playing VVD at left back, he'd still be good, but you could say we're under utilising his best attributes.
