The fool who clearly wanted to buy a defender and has managed smaller teams than ours to great success.... yeah...
He needed to buy two CBs, and instead decided the only CB in the entire world that he wanted was Virgil Van Dyk, and when that sorry, protracted saga ended in failure, he had no other options at all, and left us with fucking Matip, Lovren and the Binman.
I'm a glass half empty guy anyway but with this defence I can see us winning fuck all and trailing in 5th in the League. How we can expect to finish above Man C, Man U, Chelsea & Spurs with a defence that is worse than most others sides in the League, I cannot fathom.
I keep watching the other games and seeing Burnley, Swansea even Newcastle with better defenders than our bunch of jokers.
I also fail to comprehend how Liverpool & Southampton have got themselves into a position where they are sitting on a CB who is no use to them but can't score in a brothel while we were ready to give them a massive wad to fix their problem and ours.

It's been a perfect storm of incompetence on our part and greedy stupidity on theirs. Hopefully both sides will wise up and sort it out in January or next summer.

Strange. Personally I think he is a fucking great manager and we are a better team with him in charge and are going to do well, we didn't get a center back, sure that is a criticism, but VVD would not have prevented us from losing on Saturday IMO.

Agreed. I understand the criticism of Klopp's insistence on signing van Dijk and only van Dijk, but it doesn't take into account the lengthy list of second/third/whatever options we've signed and then regretted signing over the years. Klopp clearly thought none of the other available options would be enough of an improvement (if any) on what we have already to be worth signing in place of van Dijk, and I for one am not going to imagine I know better.
I think he still has a lot to prove myself. The fact our defence is still no better from when he first arrived is a huge black mark against him and until he sorts that we'll not have the success we all hope/expect under him.
