Pre Match Pre Match - Man Utd (H) - Sun 16:30

Huge win tonight, and 7 days rest til United have to come to Anfield.

Gomez likely out, not seen any news on Konate return but feels unlikely.

I’d start Szobo for this as United will try to play out from the back and his pressing as always will be powerful. Robbo is running out of chances but with a weeks rest should prove he can still do it in big games. He’ll have the lively Amad Diallo up against him.

Ali

Trent
Quansah / Ibu
Virgil
Robbo

Gravy
Macca
Szobo

Salah
Diaz
Gakpo

Jones will be annoyed to miss out, but I see no reason for Szobo to not start. United is probably not the game to ease Konate back in.

If it's not a cricket score I'll be gutted.

I doubt he'll be fit for this game. Maybe make the bench but he hasnt played for about 5 weeks now.

Potential banana skin.

A 3-5-2 formation could nullify our attacking threats and test our fullbacks defensively.

A lot of their play is going through Diallo. Robbo will be busy. On current form he’ll either drop a 3/10 or a 9/10 performance.

Worth adding Gravy & Gakpo both still at suspension risk.

Forest away after this is arguably our hardest game of the season and it would be a semi disaster if we go there without Grav.

After the United game this threshold ups to 10 and we can stop worrying.

We owe Forest I think we’ll be fine.

I love the fact that Slot is still talking about the Forest loss and keep mentioning it. The one football game he lost in the entire 2024 for both Feyenoord and Liverpool, 50 games, 40 wins, 9 draws and 1 loss. He is still talking about that one game. Thats the sign of a winner and someone who wants to win.

I can't believe i'm saying this - but i'm actually beginning to like Slot.

Also, I've observed that he's got no wrinkles on that shiny forehead of his, which is frankly a world wonder in itself. Most stressful job on this planet (ask Ange), and he's got an absolutely flawless wrinkle-free forehead.

That tells me that he's either spending a fortune on dermal fillers or Botox, or he sleeps 8 hours a day, or he's achieved zen-like calmness and knows how to manage stress.

If it's the latter, it only shows his mental and emotional fortitude. Probably on par with Klopp, if not better.

Too soon for praises ?

Ange looked like a beaten man yesterday. Didnt even look at the reporters when doing the post match interviews. Just stared down at his shoes looking really rough. Can't be good for your mental health and you have to feel for some of these guys.

He stepped out into the press saying he always wins trophies in his second season (having never managed at a true professional level before Spurs) so he's brought the scrutiny on himself. And he's getting very well compensated for it. No sympathy from me.

If you want to feel sorry for someone then there are millions around the world more than worthy. Not a multi-millionaire who knowingly chose this career and can walk away any time he wishes and live the rest of his life relaxing in luxury.

Yeah, he brought it on himself, no doubt.
I was talking more in general though.

Mental health awareness is for everyone.

Mental health awareness is for everyone.

True - but there is a level of self awareness and responsibility for such. Is his mental health any worse than a die hard fan who gets upset when their team loses? Probably not. He's just been caught out giving it the chat that he's the next great thing but he would struggle to finish top half in the Championship.

From a random website:

1. Pep Guardiola £20m
2. Lego head £13m
3. Unia Emery £8m
4. Rubin Amorim £6.5m
5. Arne Slot £6.2m
6= Sean Dyche £5m
6=. Postecoglou £5m
8=Thomas Frank £4.5m
8=Oliver Glasner £4.5m
10. Enzo Maresca £4.2m

Lowest paid is the Bournemouth guy on a mere £1m
