Pre Match Pre Match - Lille (CL) - Tues 20:00

Good to get another win for confidence even if it wasn’t as emphatic as we would have liked.

The main thing is whether we picked up any new injuries.

Salah back among the goals is huge for his confidence.

Great too to see Harvey with the match winner.

Chiesa is rapidly becoming very likable.

He’s super direct, intelligent, a team player and genuinely loves being involved and seeing the team win.

Love it.

Please please please don’t collapses!

Lille tried to flood the midfield and press high to nullify Gravy ... and for the most part it worked - but also meant we had more space on the wings that we didn't take advantage of.

Mo. was utterly shite yet again (3 matches on the spin). I counted 11 missed passes or failed crosses at critical moments in the final third that could have resulted in a shot. Took his goal brilliantly but should have had a second, poor miss.

Q., Bradders, Diaz, Tsimi, Virgil, Chiesa and Elliott all looked good. Jones gets a 'good' too but only on the back of a sensational spot, pass & assist for Mo's goal.

Nunez, Ali, Mac, Endo (good on the ball but a few poor passes) overall all had average games.

Szobo poor game too (along with Mo.).

All of the squad players are doing good. We like to see that. Hopefully we see a lot more of them against PSV / Spurs / Plymouth. And also even in the first XI when we need them most.

Nervous about the Jones & Gravy injuries. Feels somewhat avoidable given Endo was there fresh on the bench.

C'mon man, this sort of post has to stop, "utterly shite"? A few bad decisions,a few misplaced passes over what, 94 mins and still a goal. You and others on here need stop agonising and nit picking over ever single shot or pass or tackle or whatever. Enjoy the game and where we are.

Salah was excellent. That way he shielded the ball for one of his chances was just forward play of sublime quality. And that goal was excellently finished. And he had other chances but he won't ever score them all. I can't fathom how he could be described as absolutely shite.

I don't get the brow beating and gnashing of teeth on here. For example a drawn game is akin to the end of days. Maybe I'm just old enough when we were average at best.

I thought that Bradley was a bit rusty defensively but that is to be expected with his lack of game time.
Hopefully he plays again next week and against Plymouth as a minimum to get him back up to speed.
Tsimi was good tonight and he is clearly getting up to speed after getting some decent game time recently

He’s fishing for a Rubans. The wading boots are on. Big juicy bait on the line and launched in.

Yeah, I agree Bradley wasn't quite full of the confidence at the back like when he's had a few games, but the way he gallops up that field to support Salah was a joy. For some reason I think he also works best defensively when Harvey is on the field. They operate together like a pair on the right. No doubt because of their time together in the academy but I find it very noticeable.

Mo's finish was class and he did brilliantly to fashion the chance which went just wide...

....but his passing was absolutely fucking shite, like every pass. Faded 2nd half too.

I was going to post something till saw this.

I thought Mo was wasteful at times but at least he was involved. Ignoring the usual agenda.
His miss he should have scored but he made that all himself, everything else preceeding it was perfect. That’s football, we got the job done in a game that really wasn’t necessary. New CL is pointless and boring, elongated number wang set of qualifier but that’s another issue.

Salah is so used to Trent not overlapping so he isn't expecting.
It was funny seeing Bradley do it and get totally ignored by Salah

The only bad news is that Jones is now injured. Confirmed by Slot in the post match press conference that he couldn't continue after half time.
The other subs were about managing minutes.

Fucking shite, we need reinforcements as it’s clear Slot is not going to rest the players enough.
Jota last game, Jones this one.

Jones got plenty of rest, his injury was just unfortunate. Jota however...
Anyway, we look even thinner in midfield now.

When is this cl format meant to get really good again? I heard everyone say it was about to be now, when things took shape. Now like, now now, or the last match day? It's not happening for me. Used to be I'd know exactly what a team needed more or less, and there'd be some story lines and bad blood as they'd be return legs. Instead it's like this massive league but instead of the great joy that is a team trying to get 4th, they are trying to get 8th. Or, maybe they are trying to effectively be mid table. Getting first doesn't mean fuck all oddly. It's an interesting system, and I mean that in the sense that you describe your friends shit food as interesting.

Next game day should be a lot of fun for all teams not called Liverpool.

Thought Endo wasn't too awesome. Not as secure as he usually is. He did draw a few fouls though.

Chiesa had only one thing one his mind when he got the ball.

Life is pretty boring when you're invincible.

We're living the tragedy of Thanos in the league stage
