Pre Match Pre Match - Forest (A) - Tues 20:00

Basically this game comes down to how the combo of the 2 more advanced mids (Macca/Jones/szob) do

Also. Am I right in thinking this is the first opponent Slot will play for the second time? So far every team we've played (ignoring Spurs in the cup) has only been played once. So Slot can now show how he takes learnings from the first game and into this one. We don't need to be cagey and wait until HT - we've had 90 minutes of seeing how they play.

Worked well against the Mancs

I made a similar point elsewhere but the thing with the mancs was they’ve changed their manager so would have a different setup.

Just three days a ago a man named Woods and his ex-Liverpool teammate almost knocked us out the FA Cup.

A grim foreshadowing for tonight

We're gonna twat these 1-0. Szobo free kick 30 yards out.

But the performance will mostly be the same old slow borefest.

I think the fullbacks are as crucial really. If they get at Trent or Robbo early then that could be where they find joy and look to hit us. And as per, we won't do anything to change it until the damage is well and truly done.

This is why I’d play Bradley. If they go tight with their left side we need his running to the line as well as more defensive assurance. We don’t need a Trent Alexander-Pirlo to do that.

If we want to pull them out and counter we may need Trent though for quick turnovers. Urgh. I hate myself for using that word.

My concern with this team is largely complacency and, as much as I hate to use the word, intensity. Slot plays a calmer game but then will rapidly speed up the play and the level. We need to be doing those shifts often enough throughout the game and not fall into the mindset of 'a goal will come'. We fell into that trap in the last game with Forrest and created nothing. The best chance came from a Forest fuck up, other than that we created two half chances all afternoon. It was all too passive.

tbh you could say that for any game; our fullbacks are our weakest area. With a strong midfield cutting passing lanes as well as pressing, i think we'll cut out a lot. They will get chances still, as they've got good wingers, but if our midfield isn't on song then we won't create or stop them creating

C'mon, bricking it for an away game at Forest? That and absolutely dreading three of their players? What was it like when we played the likes of Milan, Barcelona etc when they were good?

Its not so much Forest in itself but the importance of the game in terms of the title challenge, and getting it back on track.

I know it's been said already, but this one really, really feels like that Leicester match back in 19/20, when everybody reckoned that it'd be a very tough game that would begin our fall back into the chasing pack... Let's hope it ends the same way, too.

Guy in my team at work is a Forest fan and his level of smugness and confidence is simply too high for my liking.

If TAA and Robbo (rested) show up and perform, we win this.

If their quick wingers dominate our full backs, then it's anyone's guess this game.
