Pre Match: Everton (A)

We have to target them at set pieces. Everton have conceded the most in the league and we have scored the most. Send VVD up for everything, TAA taking every single one and Salah drawing contract wherever possible. There's goals to be had there.

This game will be an absolute cunt of a game if we win this 1-0 with no major injuries to our players it will be more than excellent. They will be well up for it and we need to have some high level of utter cunt about us - this game is the biggest event of the season for them, and i dare say probably means more to them than the impossible reality of them playing in a CL final.

..Would not mind both milner and hendo starting in mid with Fab, and also have Mane as the central strker like in the last game as he has an aggressive/menacing look about him that makes him more unpredictable than our other front 2.

I'm so pumped for this. I've been living in Manchester for 2 years for work, but miss Liverpool a lot. I'm coming over to watch it tomorrow. I think everything points to us humiliating them and it being a right laugh. I'm not saying it will happen, but there's enough reasons to be optimistic that we can embarrass them in front of their fans.

Where's still good to watch the game in the city centre? Camp? Flute? I'm out of touch.

One of the all time great derby moments, Gary Mac, what a legend. Strange to think that was 18 years ago, feels like it was yesterday. It was really the launchpad to go an end the season on a high and I dont think we lost a game after that. We could use a moment like that in this derby to raise the adrenaline for the last 9 games.

It's their cup final and they'd love nothing more than to derail our title bid. Expect the Everton DVDs to go on sale after this one. Draw.

Weather is going to be a bitch. Storm Freya set to hit just before kick off.

On current form it should be a pea shelling excercise for Jurgen and the chaps.

We have 6 draws out of the last 8 vososts to Goodison.

I hate the phrase 'form goes out of the window' cos it usually doesn't (when we play Utd it's almost always the in form team that wins), but in the derby it really does seem to.

Brill. Watched it live on the TV at my sister's and not long beforehand, when the bitters had equalised, a bluenose pal of hers had called her to cackle down the phone. She of course immediately rang him back, whereupon he picked up the phone and said: "Hi, this is Tesco's, we're closed at the moment but please leave a message". :vamp:

Thanks for posting this..absolutely love this...i did say 1-0 to us and thinking it will be very tight and dirty...but after listening to that..i say we fuck em and try putting 4 or 5 past those wankers !!!

IMO both your forecasts may well turn out to be right. We may well try to put 5 past them and still end up with a scratchy 1-0 away win.

Rumoured team:

Alisson, TAA, Matip, Virgil, Robbo, Fabinho, Gini, Hendo, Mane, Salah, Origi

If true, Mane as the forward again?

Up to a point, yes, altho' obv.they'll be switching around.

The goal at Anfield must have been megasatisfying for Origi after what happened to him in that previous derby game. Let's have more of the same today.

I've been saying to anyone who'll listen he'll play the same front three.

I think all that resting in possession in spells, keeping clean sheets, letting teams play the ball but not threaten & generally trying to manage the team through the season, is all but over.

I can see us trying to be as dynamic & as attacking as Watford from here on out in every game, cos if we can score two in every game we play now we should really win every one of them. Attacking is out best tactic from here on out. Possible arguable exceptions of Chelsea & Spurs of course, but even there I think if we are close to our attacking best that they won't be able to live with us.

This is the biggest potential spanner in the works in terms of the league that we have to face until those games, & is making me more nervous than I usually am for a derby match for that reason alone.

Damn. For some reason I thought the KO was 12.15 (20.15 here) and I rushed home from the Boxing Cat brewery downtown. Came into this thread expecting to see the lineup and discussion and was flummoxed (and pissed off) to find I've still got 4 1/2+ hours to go :graham:

Hahaha. Ouch.

Think the police wanted to give everyone plenty of drinking time before kick off this time! Most people were taken aback by the kick off time!

That midfield is going to be hard to watch, but, I suppose its best suited for this game, which is going to be very physical & stormy.

If that's the line up I wouldn't be surprised if Gini & Fabinho alternate in the attacking/most forward role. Loads of energy & quite a lot of dynamism there.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the actual KO time ! Everyone is going to be well bevvied after a liquid lunch 😀

What's our record with and without Wijnaldum this season?
I know he needs a rest but I've got a feeling we've struggled without him. I'll be happy if someone makes me look like DB because this is based on absolutely nothing
