Partly explains the output from set pieces I guess?
Liverpool helped by neuroscience company to perfect penalties before Carabao Cup final success
[article]Liverpool put their players through penalty training in the build-up to the Carabao Cup final with the German neuroscience team who have helped to improve their set-piece record this season.
The manager, Jürgen Klopp, gave part of the credit for Sunday’s shoot-out success against Chelsea at Wembley to neuro11, which specialises in work aimed at getting players “in the zone”.
The company spent last week at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre in a continuation of the practices they started during pre-season and the move proved beneficial, with Klopp’s side converting 11 successful spot kicks before the Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga skied his effort in sudden death.
The Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher had successfully converted his penalty immediately before to put the pressure on Arrizabalaga, who had tried, unsuccessfully, to put off his opponents.
Victory completed the first leg of what Liverpool hope will be an unprecedented quadruple of trophies as they pursue silverware in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
“Somehow I had a feeling we deserved it, Caoimhin especially deserved it, and you have to say that we have neuro11,” Klopp told the club’s TV channel.
“We worked with them. In the pre-season, you should have seen the boys in the training camp.
“They were training set pieces with the boys in the last few weeks and each player went through a proper drill, psychological, to do with penalties, corners and free kicks.
“But penalties as well. So we had a list for the boys. First five [penalty takers] and then six, seven, eight. But some of the players were not on the field anymore.
“From eight onwards they were not even close on any list, so it was really exciting. Compliments to the boys, compliments to neuro11, they did an incredible job with the boys. I am really happy we could win it like this.”
As well as being at the training ground last week, the founders of neuro11, Dr Niklas Häusler and Patrick Häntschke, a former academy player at the German side FC Energie Cottbus, were present at the national stadium to join in the celebrations.
A photograph on the company’s Twitter account shows the duo with the Carabao Cup.
Part of the work done by neuro11 has involved using headsets with electrodes which measure the live electrical activity of the brain.
Through this, they can identify correctly whether a player is in the zone or not, which in effect means that a sportsperson running on automatic rather than having to think about what they are attempting to do.
Klopp and his assistant manager, Pepijn Lijnders, believed that neuro11 could bring a fresh stimulus to accuracy training but had to wait to work with the company due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Liverpool have scored 15 goals from set pieces, excluding penalties, in the Premier League this season and boast the best set-piece goals record in the Champions League this term, with five.
The focus will now switch to Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Norwich City, with Thiago Alcântara scheduled to undergo an MRI scan on his hamstring on Monday.
Alcântara felt tightness in the muscle during the warm-up before the final and had to pull out of the starting line-up. He was pictured in tears on the sidelines with Alisson Becker seeking to console the midfielder, who has suffered from a number of injuries since his move from Bayern Munich in September 2020.[/article]
sounds good. Can any of the football teams use Neuro11 I wonder …
yes because Juergen just did a big promo spot for them for whatever reason
This will get a like when it’s 20 7 8 3 9 5 2
I would think there will be some kind of NDA signed to prevent them from working with other english clubs at least since they know much of our players' mindset now.yes because Juergen just did a big promo spot for them for whatever reason

I could be wrong though.
Tsimikas also getting shit for spitting
[article]
Sportsmail reached out to Liverpool and the Merseyside club explained that Tsimikas was getting rid of chewing gum, rather than spitting.
It has also been added that, while nobody was directly below Tsimikas following their own investigation, Liverpool have reminded the player, who is said to be apologetic about the incident, of his responsibilities following the reaction to the footage.

6th appearance. 4 starts, 2 subs.An important factor of the win is the momentum it gives the club and the players, in particular one Luis Diaz. I had him as MOTM. Not strictly the best on the pitch so much, more considering it was only his 3rd game. What impressed me more than anything, I mean we know he has pace, was his great control in very tight situations. He shows for the ball even in the tightest spot. Much stronger upper body than he looks. Mental strength can't be taken for granted but this lad looks fearless.
If he can score 1 in 3 or so it will be hard for Klopp to leave him out.
i love the way our players thought Kepa's gamesmanship was a joke 🙂
You could literally feel the confidence drained out of him with each passing pen when he couldn't even get close to any of them. They were pretty disrespectful to him - Fabinho’s panenka, Virgil blasting into the same corner he was standing, Mo laughing. Definitely got into his head.
You could literally feel the confidence drained out of him with each passing pen when he couldn't even get close to any of them.
Towards the end he looked like he lacked conviction and was diving for the sake of it. He looked surprised he even got Konate's right and he couldn't react fast enough.
It is a weird shootout to be honest. Both keepers didn't look like they could make any saves.
Been posted yet?
enjoyed the dancing at the end, good stuff
I got home yesterday after what was an exhausting but fruitful weekend.
I am starting to think one or two people have overdosed on Hal's posts, because, instead of a forum united in celebration, I see threads about how Salah is crap in finals and how our midfield is on the brink of total collapse.
I know everyone reacts differently, but why cant folks just enjoy the success rather than search desperately for the cloud in this silver lining?
This may become a miserable place if we do happen to pull off the quadruple

Haha yeah I posted Salah was crap in finals during the game in the hope he'd score and prove me wrong.I got home yesterday after what was an exhausting but fruitful weekend.

There's been a few I think. There's been water bottles spotted by the goals with names of pen takers and favoured placement, etc.Its nonchalance and calmness personified. Borderline apathetic.
I loved it.
I'd imagine he studied the pens prior, and dived the most common way that person takes pens. Was it lehmann at arsenal who had a list at one penalty shootout?
For keepers it's hard at pens. No point trying to mindgame if the opposition aren't going to fall for it.
