70% of our 71% possession is fucking meaningless.

When Atleti get the ball all they want do it is attack and drive through, we fucking messing around with it in our own box.

Would actually take off Matip, who I blame for being comically out of position for the second goal, and who doesn't seem to be as assured as usual

A few thoughts so far as the 1st half ends.

Against a high energy, pressing team - I'm not sure a Hendo-Milner midfield works. I'm not 100% sure Hendo is the same player he was last year - he seems physically not as imposing as he was.
The inability of refs to give fouls when Mane is fouled is MIND BOGGLING.
You're up 2-0, and you play such a high line? I get it but the Griezmann chance should have been a warning ...
Athletico are such a gifted team - I wonder how much better/worse they'd be with a manager like Klopp for example?

Half time changes -
Jota for Bobby
Fabinho for Keita or Milner

Likely half time changes? none.

MotH - Allison.

They"ve expended a lot of energy this half, hopefully they"ve shot their bolt.

When Atleti get the ball, after 5 passes they create or score.

Us? 150 and we end back up to where we started.

Fabs on for Milner second half... Keitaa has not been Brill' but he has offered more than Milner how is not far offer a booking imo

Wow, that was quite a half for the neutrals. Great start by us, but then Altetico showed their teeth and most of all, their quality. Lemar, Griezmann and Joao Felix all looking red-hot, so creative and unpredictable that they clearly got us rattled. I don't think we've quite come up against this kind of attacking quality this season, maybe we did against City, but theirs was more concentrated in midfield – here Atletico attack in small numbers, but every pass and movement is so precise that they don't need many players to hurt you.

We need to take our breath and regroup. Of course, Fabinho needs to come on for Keita in the 46th minute. We have to match the atmosphere and the bravery of the Madrid players to get a positive result here, this 2nd half will tell us a lot about who's who in this team.

Yes - after one bad game, that definitely defines a team or player.
You're not from the microwave generation dude - such nonsense
Wait which is the microwave generation? Like when it came out in the 60s?

Could argue from his posts you're referring to people who might have microwaved their head a couple times as well

Agree with most of this excpet Fab for Keita

The law is an arse, the first goal offside and Lemar is surely in the way of Matip.
Maybe Matip could have done better on both goals.

Its frustrating because if Matip was the keeper it would have been given as it was in the keepers eyeline, yet in this situation Matip was the only one who could save the ball, but it's not given cos he's not the keeper, kinda ironic.

Ha - nah, it's a term I like for folk who think results come immediately ... 'put it in the micro, zap it and after 30 seconds, it's ready' ...

Damming indictment by Hamann on RTE "he'll (Naby) never be good enough to be a Liverpool player'"

Done believe Jota will fair any better than Frimno. Problem attack wise is neither Robbo or Trent not delivering balls in from the wide areas
