Post-Match - Benfica (A)

Meh, I think it's part of a strikers game these days, like it or lump it. There was a few times when the ball was played up there, he threw himself at the ball to invite the challenge, and usually drew the foul, which is great in relieving pressure.

What I do agree with is criticism of his unnecessary constant moaning. If the ref isn't doing anything to protect him, we know full well that moaning about it constantly just makes the ref even more determined to not take action, and it's now got to the stage where he's one step away from a ban because of it.

- And finally, yet more frustration from Torres. Seriously - what does he have to be annoyed about? I don't get it. Moaning, falling, diving, bitching, lying, and then missing a sitter with 10 minutes to go. He fucked me off royally tonight.

- What else?

EDIT: Oh, and Di Maria is the meeting. He won't be there next season anyway.
Come on Ryan. Fernando was getting hacked to bits constantly, predominently by the same couple of players, without getting feck all protection from the ref. He had plenty to moan about in my book.
I could understand it if he started to whinge after taking a kicking for most of the game, but he was having hissy fits early in the first half.
Correct. His attitude was shite early on for no real reason.

And as for "hacked to bits" - Well he was on the end of one bad tackle, the rest was him launching himself to the ground under any touch. He's a diver and we all know it.
I agree. He's a diving pussy.
Look, I'm not getting fucking moral about it, cos every striker does it, so fine no probs. But let's not pretend he was getting "hacked to bits" cos he wasn't. By the end the ref had stopped falling for it too.
You dont need to tell me mate. Two incidents-
1.Sideshow bob skins him in the area and he lies on his front untill we can no longer see the penalty area on TV.
2.Gerrard overhits a cross and he dives headlong over Bob and falls to the floor in the 6 yard box.

Fucking laughable. And half the lads on here are knocking on about THEM diving.

You are kidding me?

The analysis after the game showed him taking at least double figures of bad tackles/fouls, many of then unpunished, and coming in from behind.

He has in other games pissed me off with his antics but last night I thought that his attitude was spot on.
Sure he exagerrated some of the fouls but to me it seemd like it was the only way that he could get the dozy Ref to notice that he was being constantly fouled, mostly unpunished

maybe I'm too forgiving but nando was some dsitance from goal which a defender bearing down on him, I suspect he wanted to take the shot early to catch the keeper out. I certainly wasn't thinking 'sitter'.

I thought Benfica's delivery from wide areas was consistently good. If only we could sign someone like Di Maria to play on the wing for us.

They did knock it in well, but we should have defended it better. They got free headers in right through the first half before we tightened up.

I'm afraid the issue with Torres's petulance/ attitude/ whatever is another of the doomed-to-failure O'Tomkins hobbyhorses that he quacks on about for a while, then eventually has to shut the fuck up about forever because he's been made to look a twat.

I'll admit to being biased but I do remember spending a large portion of the game shouting at the ref and not just for the farcical red card. Torres moaning! they were roughing him up all fucking night, I'm sure that they were sent out with an instruction to be dirty niggling bastards in fact it was an exhibition in the black arts of cuntic defending. The ref needed to have more control generally and the picture above just sums it up for me.... Is that Luisao? right ... We hardly got off scot free for our transgressions did we, it was never a free kick to give them their first opportunity for a pen and the clearly excessively wound up luisao shouldn't have been on the pitch to help Babel in his way. in one tackle i saw torres was clattered and as the both fell the Benfica cunt threw a punch into his body as they went. It was a cynical performance from them IMO and the ref just was not up to it. I really really want us to fuck these up at Anfield.

exactly. that's assault.

I saw that incident the first time and it should have been penalised all right, but I didn't think it was deliberate then and I don't now. Get over yourselves.

Wow ! Good answer Judge.

Incidentally I agreed with both penalties and the sending off decisions. However if you look at that picture, the two guys right and left of the kung fu guy, should have been sent off as well. I dont want bias, to either side, I want fair play.

So are you claiming Torres' "petulance / attitude" is non-existent then? Did you watch the game on Sunday?

See also:

His "defensive midfielders are thing of the past" which changed into "everyone plays two defensive midfielders" and "box-to-box midfielders are a thing of the past" - I've asked you for this before, becuase never ever ever did the I type the former. So again, for the undredth time - please show me where I typed that. Bob-to-box midfielders are a thing of the past, and I fell bad for you that I had to highlight this to you.

Lucas is a good player - He is. Hence why he plays for Liverpool, and will be at the World Cup this summer with one of the Tournament favourites. Danny "10 times the player Lucas will ever be" Guthrie will be wigging it in Ayia Napa with Shola and the boys.

Benitez gets his tactics and teams right all the time - This doesn't merit a response, does it?

Gerrard will never play CM for Liverpool again - Again, something I never ever said.

Masher is actually a bit shit, look at his silly little legs moving quickly, but he's actually slow, we should sell him. - My actual comments were that I don't think he's that quick, as evuidence by the skinning he's got by several players over the last few years. And I claimed for 30M, I would sell him yes.

Agger isn't very good at passing - "long passing" was the actual quote and it's true, but why let an actual quote get in the way of another steaming load of bullshite.

You bore me.
