This is funny - but I have to say it's also true. I don't think I am being dramatic, but the performances of Henderson, Fabinho have been so so bad (especially the later) - that I have never known us to be on such thin ice. During the season where we lost our defenders, much of the problems were self-inflicted due to playing our best midfielders in defense but this situation seems dire. I find myself hoping that Aurthur Melo turns out to be more than we all expect if he plays for us, that is actually how desperate we are in reality. I expect in every match to see Thiago or Naby to come off with an hamstring injury or something that will put them out for weeks or months and we then have to field Henderson and Fabinho. We really are in a fucking pickle right now, the positive if any can be taken out of it is this:
1) Every game we are involved will be exciting - coz none of us have a fucking clue what kind of Liverpool FC will turn up on that pitch. There is very little fun in knowing you will win each game or to know that you have a 90% chance of winning a game - because it reduces the viewing down to "I wonder what style we will play that will lead us to winning this game". Well these days every game we play is really a 35%-50% chance of us winning games. Nothing is certain and it makes for a great sport - makes me want to watch us more actually - that nervous feeling we get when we play Man United - is now the same feeling I get for every PL game. Also part of the fun is watching our fucking lovable and crazy coach doing crazy shit like playing 37 year old Milner at right back, and Elliot on the left, no doubt with Konate's injury he will probably try and get Fabinho to cover in defense to see if he can get his form back up again.
2) Fabinho is so fucking bad - it's both funny and I pity the opposition with his miss-timed tackles that could potentially injure them. I look at him playing and think - what the fuck is this guy doing at our club ? - we should only play him if we are forced to, or play him where the plan is to play a low block. But both him and Henderson's form have allowed us to finally get Bajcetic in the team - who I think is a brilliant footballer, I think he has been ace for us, and I do expect a few mistakes from the kid but his control of the ball and interceptions have been very good for us. He's good enough to be in that midfield right now.
3) We still are expecting the return of Diaz, Jotta, Bobby, and VDD. Now I know - its strange to say this, - I have not seen them for so long in our team, that I think its safe to say when they return it will be like 4 new signings !!!! - but Diaz/Jotta have been missing for so long - I forget that they are our players.
3) Last season we had an amazing season - I know we did not win the 2 big cups, but I was so proud of the team almost completing the quad. I don't know about you guys - but I was intoxicated with football fever and the world cup follow up took me into a weird zone. Perhaps this season is a kind of welcome detox.
4) The realization by FSG that they cannot compete in the PL long term, and are selling so we may have new rich owners soon, where we have enough money to back up the clubs global brand so that we are always able to compete.
