Portsmouth have been issued with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Customs.

The cash-strapped club have endured a miserable season on and off the field this term with Pompey sitting rock bottom of the table and having a transfer embargo placed on them due to their financial problems.

Players and staff have seen their wages delayed twice already this year as Pompey look to pay off the debts hanging over the club.

Portsmouth are believed to owe over £10million in fees to other English clubs and it has been suggested they will have to sell more of their stars to pay off the debt.

The news that a winding-up petition has been issued will raise doubts over the long-term future of the club as they try to find the funds to keep Pompey running.

The petition was presented on 23rd December but a full court hearing will not take place until February.

If the club are unable to improve their situation, they could be made bankrupt.

I'll really miss that Sasquatch with the bell.

hahaha.

I fucking hate watching us play at their place. I have to mute the sound cos of that fucking bell ringing. It's abhorrent. Nearly as bad as those fucking horns they have in the African nations, ruined the entire cunting thing.

Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

Pity we had to lose to that shower tho.

*Dream mode*
Pompey fail to find a buyer and are wound-up - all EPL games involving are declared void and points removed appropriately.

I wouldn't like to see any team go bust.
But taking a more cynical view, what would happen to their players? Any we could steal?

Krankjear would have been a brilliant buy for £3M, but Spurs got to him in the Summer...

In fact Spurs have already took everything of value.

Get Finnan back and use Johnson as a RM.

With the way it's turned out at Portsmouth, we did well to use our iou to get Magic when we did.

I was thinking similarly Tinto but having said that we might have gotten him much cheaper had we waited. We'd never have got the money they owed us though.

Wouldn't he have just ended up at Chelsea who were also after him in the summer?

Possibly. He didn't go there in the summer though.
In any case its not so important really. Noone outside the club could've predicted what would happen anyway.
