Those are the distances I work off when playing.

in all honesty they are true, it isn't about me being billy big bollocks. It does make courses fairly short for me which is great.

That is the upside my putting is the downside as a wiseman once said "you drive for show and putt for dough"

What do you play off Dahuge ? (please don't say "tees&quot😉

My back is getting looser by the week and last night my distances were climbing up. I'm still a good ten to fifteen yards shorter than you with most clubs. Except the Driver, I haven't got one yet. Chances are it'll take a while for me to figure it out.

I was pinging the 3 Wood out to around the 250 mark and pretty straight too so I'm pretty happy with how I'm going. Time to get out on the course now that I might not embarrass myself

Being straight is the key. Over the last 5 years, I have lost a fair bit of distance (at least 10-15 yards off every iron, and 30 off the driver) but I am managing to keep the ball relatively straight, with very little side spin on it. My handicap has plummeted from 15+ to single figures. My short game has come on dramatically with it, as it is sooooo much more important.

I played last night and again this afternoon. Both front nines were crap, both back nines great. All the books tell you to warm up properly and not do what I do which is to arrive at the course a couple of minutes before I'm due to tee-off, take two or three wild practice swings and think 'right, I'm ready'. You just can;t get away with that in golf.

I did the same today. Went out after 2 practice swings, and wondered why I had developed a 'shank' for the first two holes. Thankfully it settled down and scored 28 points from the 5th onwards. Pity it was 4 x NRs to start!!

As I am not a member of a club it depends on who I am playing with, if it is the lads I play of 12, if it is with the lads I go away with on a golf holiday i was off 16 (that is based on 10 years worth of rounds with them - having won this year I will be off 15 next year).

My problem is off the tee and also the mind - hence why I very very rarely use a driver. I have, as I mentioned earlier slowed my take away down when on the tee which has helped a bit - but if I am not fully concentrating or feeling rushed then my woods are pointless. Plus my putting on quick greens is pathetic, hence my poor handicap. I should realistically be off single figures due to my ball striking but if you cannot putt then it will never happen.

We all went to St Andrews on the 11th and played Kingbarns(twice), The Castle Course and Crail - fucking awesome - the castle course will be one of the best courses in the UK very very soon - fucking brutal but quality. Averaged 32 points over the 4 days which I am well happy with considering the alcohol intake and the difficulty of the courses and came from 3 points behind going into the final day, then 5 behind after the first to win by 7 points.

7 Iron - 130 metre

4 Iron - 160 metres

3 Wood - 200 metres

Driver - 220 metres

..............and in case your'e asking I obviously have a small penis as well.

Where do people play by in large?
Are they members of clubs?

I play of 17 (15 in the society) with my main problem being inconsistancy. I am capable of playing like a singles figure handicapper one day and a 25 handicapper the next.
Overall I am not bothered though, I enjoy getting out and am not hugely motivated to greatly reduce my handicap.

I'm back to 14 now. Slowed it down and use 3 wood or iron for accuracy on shorter par 4's. Changed grip and putting stroke too. My 1st sub 80 is close.

Meant to say earlier. For all the Irish golfers, check this website out http://www.onlineteetimes.ie/ Register with them and you get an email twice a week with tee times on various courses which are often a quarter of the normal green fee. If you are quick you occasionally get a freebie two ball and through them I have played St Anns, St Margarets, Roganstown and many other decent golf courses free gratis.
Check it out...........
