Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge admits he feared he would be "lost to the game" when he found himself consigned to the fringes of the first team at Chelsea.
Sturridge approaches Sunday's Premier League crunch clash with Manchester United in the form of his life, having scored 23 goals in 28 appearances for club and country this season.
But speaking at the World Cup Trophy Tour's stopover in London, the 24-year-old conceded there was a time when he fell out of love with the game as he struggled at Stamford Bridge.

How somebody as talented as him (and make no mistake he's a superbly gifted footballer) couldn't get in that United side at the weekend ahead of those fucking kippers Van Gall selected is an indictment on him. He's pretty much sat on the bench for 2-3 years at United now, whilst players with far less ability - Valencia, Giggs, Wellbeck, etc have played ahead of him.

He'll be sold soon enough to some makeweight Italian side no doubt for 7M and will end up dwindling around blaming everyone but himself.

Wonderful footballer if he wanted, waste of time for the most part.

Vicente - another former Valencia man and another career ruined by injuries. Shame to end up in the Championship or wherever he is now.

What a player he was for Valencia, especially under Benitez.

I remember watching him play during Benitez final season in charge and he was just pure class. Pure class.

Then that injury happened, followed by more injuries and he was never the same player again.

Such a shame he didnt work out. A genuine winger.
