Player of the Season ?

After reading the Charlie Adam interview earlier where he mentioned he voted for Scott Parker as player of the season I was trying to think of other possible candidates.

There doesn't appear to be any outstanding candidates this year for Premier League player of the season.

Berbatov and Tevez lead the goalscoring charts, Tevez might be in with a shout but I can't imagine Berbatov picking up many votes.

Players like Bale, Nani and Van Der Vaart have had slightly inconsistent but impressive enough seasons but don't strike me as strong enough candidates.

I'm either completely missing lots of great players or not that many people have had great seasons ... ?

Parker is a good shout though.

Why not just give it to Lucas and see if Brendans head actually explodes?

nasri has gone to shit since jan.

I cant think of anyone who really deserves to win it outright this season.

Quite a lot of players have been good to great for periods but nobody has been outstanding since August.

A lot players started out with a bang, Bale, VDV, Nasri, Berbatov etc and then faded.

Adam and Parker performed at a high level for their respective clubs throughout the season. Parker will probably get it.

Anyone have any stats for Parker. I always found that he didn't score enough goals but his overall play is excellent. He must have a few goals this season anyway and combine that with an impressive touch, brain, and work ethic. Pity he wasted so many seasons at Chelsea doing nothing and then followed by a stint in average Newcastle team.

We're we ever in for him? Would have liked him a few years back but he's 31 or something now and probably on high wages. Spurs will probably sign him if West Ham go down.

The move to Chelsea was probably one of the worst career moves ever. You feel that he should have played in much better teams than Newcastle and West Ham, and that he could have turned out to be an even better player.

Probably has a lot of cash in the bank though.

Rooney for scoring the worlds first overhead kick.

Haha !

Shreks too inconsistent. I'd say hernandez deserves to be in with a shout

Was he nominated?

Scratch that they might give it to Van der Saar because it's his last season.
No one has really stood out this season, it's not like before with the Henry, Nistelroy, Ronaldo etc...

Haven't a clue. He's decent though and had adapted far too well

Yeah, Nasri.

Joe Hart's been pretty good too.

as much as i hate him Nani has had a damn good season

The only four I can think of are already mentioned here really:

Adam
Parker
Hart
Hernandez

No doubt Rooney or VDS will get it though, especially if they win the league.

I'd give it to Tevez. He is City's stand out player by some distance and has scored bucketloads.

Good shout, I'd forgot all about him. He's been unplayable at times this season.

Nani isn't a bad shout to be fair, he's stepped up to the plate big time this season.

His performances haven't captured the media coverage that VDV/Bale etc have and he's been more consistent than both!

Think Van der Vaart might put up some fight but yeah, Tevez is a really good choice.

Isn't this voted for in Jan or something (which is ridiculous). Who was playing well around then?

Exactly. That aspect of it is farcical.

As far as this year's award is concerned, I reckon there's a head of steam building up in the media to give it to Parker. Maybe it's just the papers I read, but he's the most common choice I've seen so far.
