while im pi$$ed off at yesterdyas events this snippent from the echo puts things in perspective on why the owners have put a brake on spending.. words cant explain

Henderson remains at Anfield but the fact that the Reds were willing to offer him plus cash for Clint Dempsey speaks volumes.
When Sunderland contemplated losing Henderson last summer, Steve Bruce told his chairman he believed they could get £4million for him. Imagine his delight when Comolli offered £14million and then swiftly improved that bid to £16million.
Comolli was FSG’s first senior appointment back in November 2010. The Frenchman convinced them he would get value for money. That he would unearth hidden gems and sign players who would have a high sell-on value. Comolli failed miserably and Rodgers has had to pick up the pieces.

Maybe the daft cunt owners should interview their job candidates a bit more thoroughly.
Exactly. Commoli was allegedly a recommendation from some fekin baseball chap was he not? They generally give the impression that they either over engineer appointments, the Chief Exec being an example or they go with people their mates in the 'world of sports' put forward.
take the debacle of appointing a DoF, at first that is the one of the core positions in the new structure, next minute it's out of the window because one of the managers they like doesn't want it!

Been said a 1000 times but the level of incompetence over the basics is breathtaking
Nearly two years

I wonder who steered him towards buying British.
There is as much if not more of an issue with what was paid for the target that the targets themselves.

Are you anti British Modo?

Its more depressing thinking what a team Rodgers could have built with that money

No, I'm anti English and fatties.

Seriously though, it's not about disliking British players, it's more about being able to tell clubs to fuck off when they're asking for silly money. Why overpay in order to get Downing, Henderson etc. when we could get their Spanish equivalent for a lot less?
So someone must have really been pushing to get these players.

It's not a mystery Modo. Dalglish identified the targets and Comoli negotiated a deal for them.
Your criticism is of the price we paid for Henderson Downing etc and is entirely valid.
I am not sure where you are trying to lay the blame is

The blame is obviously shared between C and KD but I was wondering why "haboobs" post was geared towards Comolli. That's until I clicked the link and read the complete article.
So in hindsight I should've read the article first.

Yo, do what you gotta do, son !

I just find it very difficult to believe the above. How can our valuation of a player be 4 times more than the owning clubs own valuation ? I know we signed Andy Carroll for 35M but that was another club taking the piss out of us given our situation with Torres (I know we should not have payed that amount still). As clubs go - there is a valuation that is done and I suspect that there maybe a difference of 4M max - but the above is just indicating that Comolli was given a budget and players that Kenny wanted and he just went there and quoted big sums and emptied the coffers to meet his targets which was to sign up the players that Kenny thought he needed. I refuse to believe the above - theres got to be more to this.
