Will he believe again?

So after his reputation took a hit last season with city finishing 3rd and not doing much in Europe it looks like he's back

City breaking all kinds of records and sweeping all before them aside.

They are also playing some of the best football in Europe if not the best.

Is he back to being the best coach in the world or is too early to say?

I wonder what I could have done with a gazillion oil dollars to buy Europe's finest.

Indeed but City are now playing brilliant stuff after looking disjointed and soft last season.

Regardless of the money you still have to get the team to gel and the balance right.

Even if you hate him it has to be nothing but impressive

De bruyne is just phenomenal, the best footballer in the league by a country mile.

Youve then got Aguero, Sane, Jesus, Silva x2, Sterling etcetcetc such an ace pool of talent, their bench today wouldve walked i to the starting eleven of just about every team in the league.

Would be nice for him to go to a team where didn't have a limitless pot for change. No doubting they play some great football, but that's the least you would expect with the amount they have spent.

Seriously ? - I don't know about any of you but to be honest Arsenal showed a lot of ways to get into that City team and they are still as they were in previous seasons - the only exception being that Pep has proper European experience to take them further in the CL. However, I have trouble taking to them and their current run because I cannot take all the hype about the likes of Fernandinho.

There are only two players from that squad I would have in my team - just Aguero, and Sane. That's it really and from Chelsea I would have Kante and Edin, from Man United I would not bother with any of them other than the young Rashford as a potential replacement for Coutinho. His done well but I cannot help thinking if our team had not lost Mane in that game we would have torn an arsehole in Pep's side - because for much of that game before Mane got sent off - we were more than a match for them. Before any of you say anything - the underlying problem with our team is discipline and concentration - other than that - we have just as poor defenders and midfielders as the other teams. Standards have seriously dropped in world football.

Oh, they can be got at in defence right enough. The problem is that when you do that you give them space to fully deploy their own attack, which is superb.

I'd have de Bruyne in my squad in a heartbeat. On his day he's the best player in the Prem. I'd also seriously consider Silva.

I'll give him credit for not fucking it up but really given a blank cheque book and a season to get his shit together this is entirely what everyone would expect from him.

If his team have done something special at the end of the season then I'll reconsider.

Really ?

You wouldn't take a defender or keeper from any of those teams ?

Never going to happen. Would you go back to a low paid job at a shit company just to prove you are great at whatever your profession is?

He's at City because he's wrongly or rightly rated the best in the business while playing attractive football.

And this season he is showing it. He's not them playing insane football.

So you wouldn't take KDB or Jesus or Walker?

Rightio.

I honestly don't think we would improve in attack that much. Walker is good but while at Spurs we did give them a good roasting, as for Jesus - yeah good but would he improve on Mane and Salah that much ? probably not. To be honest there is only one player in any team that scares shit out of me when we face them - and that is Edin Hazard - that guy is amazing - he is Coutinho with more consistent and quicker feet plus pace and strength. None of the others scare me - in any of the other teams that much as they can be stopped and limited.

City will walk it this season. Pressure was on hugely after last season's underachievement but you can see Pep has got them playing like he wants with Sane, Sterling, De Bruyne, Jesus, and Aguero all playing well. Not sure I rate the rest of the team too highly bar the keeper, Ederson, who is top drawer, but they're all good enough at what they do.

This just makes me think of what peekay (I think it was him anyways) said in relation to our issues - the most important thing is player recruitment.

They've got a lot of money and can always afford to rectify mistakes (which they've made a fair few of, particularly at the back) but they've bought well over the last couple seasons and it's come together for them now.

In that situation, Pep is a pretty good bet.

Taking on this job is a real challenge - massive pressure, huge weight of history and expectation, but not enough funds to compete with the top two or three. Would Guardiola ever risk his reputation with us? Not in a million years. Same for Mourinho. It's not the era of Harlem Globetrotters teams. It's managers. It's talent with very little appetite for serious struggle.

?? Baffling.

Also, Fernandinho has been really impressive this season.

Ah him.. a member of the worse Brazilian team in history that lost 7-1 to Germany on home soil. He can get to fuck - sometimes players play well because of the others around him. Will never rate him for as long as he is alive.

Seriously Larry - it is a matter of all the parts clicking for their players this season. I can imagine Pep having a 3rd season Mourinho next season. I really cannot wait for us to take them on at Anfield - I just hope we have a full set of players available. To be honest that 5-0 loss really hurts me because of what happened with Mane's sending off and I really feel like we could have handed them a good pasting that day. Fucking wankers - hope we do em bad when the time comes.

'Pep' is getting to be almost as cloyingly irritating a phrase as people talking about 'Diana'.

As per the last few seasons, better City than anyone else among the top. Fuck Pep. But fuck Mourinho and United, fuck Chelsea and fuck all of North London. Hope City slips enough to give everyone else a hope, so none of the other sides go all-in on Europe and cups and come away with silverware, but other than that they can buy another title.

Yeah fuck everyone. Still status quo then.
Another season of supporting every team bar Man U, cause we sure ain't gonna do shit.

Spend ALOT of money, load up your team with some of the best, youngest and quickiest players in the planet, and let them play. Seems easy.

If he wins the league and CL this season, I think no one will begrudge him his best manager on the planet title. But if he came to us he wouldn't do as well, not without a gazillionaire as our owner.

That's the cloud hanging over him but i doubt he is ever going to try to take, say, Everton to the top.

Never had a problem with you Modo but you’re boring the fuck out of me lately.
At this point in the season, I'd usually be quite optimistic. The numbers aren't too bad, sure we've lost a few games but we're still 'only' 4 points behind Man U. We're top of our group in the CL. So where does the negativity come from you might ask?
We'll it's simple, three things:
*We've conceeded 17 goals in the premiership.
*I've barely seen any progress at all since Klopp joined. We're still too inconsistent.
*Lastly, I was hoping for a league challenge this season. I don't mind losing against Man C, I can accept losing against Spurs, you could say that Man C can't be caught by anyone in the form they're in.
But if you look at our results, 3-3 against Watford -2, Burnley -2, 1-1 Newcastle -2 and 0-0 Man U - 2...thats 8 points.
With those 8 points we'd be 3 points behind Man C.
