Barcelona technical secretary Albert Valentin was at Napoli’s game with Marseille last week to watch Pepe Reina.

The Partenopei shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a move to CampNou next summer following Victor Valdes’ admittance that he will leave at the end of the season.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana board member was at the Champions League clash with the French outfit to see, in person, the on loan Liverpool goalkeeper.

Original article also mention that Valentin went to watch Ter Stegen a few days later for the game played at Borussia Park which ended with a 4-1 home win for Monchengladbach over Eintracht Frankfurt.

I think Pepe's contracted till 2016. Hopefully, we'll get decent money out of any sale.

£4m (€5m) is an absolute steal, his true value must be over £7m.

A good point is to be raised here. Our loyal servant PEPE, really undermined his commercial value by his utterances in the press. Fecking assets. Who said they could talk?

I guess with the wages he's on, for a reserve keeper, we should be quite pleased with that deal.

It's not long since people operated under the assumption we could sell him for 20m

He'll go cheap cos its obvious we don't want him and he doesn't wanna be here. Bridges burned

Pepe Reina has told Cadena Cope that his loan move to Napoli has been an 'absolute success' and he reiterated that he expects to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis next summer.
The Spain international goalkeeper secured a reunion with former Anfield boss Rafa Benitez in the summer after Liverpool signed Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.
Reina is still under contract at Liverpool until 2016, but reports have claimed that he will replace Victor Valdes at Barcelona at the end of the season in a cut-price deal.
The 31-year-old is enjoying his time in Italy and acknowledged that his wife played a role in his decision to join Napoli.
"I did not expect to change and to come to Napoli," Reina told Cadena Cope. "It was a surprise for me when Liverpool signed a new goalkeeper in the summer.
"My wife was the first to encourage me to move and now I'm very proud and grateful for that decision. I think it has been an absolute success and that I'm a stronger goalkeeper than last year.

"I have been at Liverpool for a long time. But now I am happy here in Naples. I have a fresh outlook on the game and have been playing some of my best stuff. We are having a great championship.
"Am I surprised? Yes. The city is different from Liverpool, people do not respect your privacy, but they show their affection.
"We have a new coach, a new style and new players. I am happy at the moment, but I would be even happier if we won the league, Coppa Italia and Champions League.
"It's very difficult that I'll return to Liverpool. In the summer I will have to finish my contract with them."

5M is a shit fee for a good goalkeeper going to a top class team.

Are we really trying to kid ourselves into thinking anything different?

Circumstances are forcing our hand. Fine. That still doesn't make it an acceptable deal - just what we have to live with.

Indeed. Especially as he's been performing well. Not sure why is price would go down under these circumstances.

If a deal is in place at that level, I hope it's because we have a similar cut price deal in place for Song to come the other way.

He's worth what anyone is willing to pay so I'm not arsed about the price. He wages are too high to be our backup 'keeper so we have to get rid.

Thanks for some great times Pepe and good luck.

I said when he went on loan over the summer it was a nonsense move. All it has done is allow his value to fall and deprive the club of getting the cash for him for a season.

[article=http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/liga-barcelona-confirm-reina-target-132024828--sow.html]“We have been looking for a goalkeeper since Valdes announced he wanted to leave,” Barcelona Vice-President Josep Maria Bartomeu told RAC1.

“We are in highly advanced negotiations. If Valdes says officially where he will go to in January, we will announce the new goalkeeper for Barcelona.
“Our idea is to sign only one goalkeeper.

“Marc-Andre Ter Stegen [of Germany and Borussia Mönchengladbach] and Pepe Reina are within our range of options, which is already very small.”[/article]
