Pep the Failure?

You would think so, but as long as Guardiola is in charge, it will be harder to fix than you would think. He will always prefer sticking a midfielder at CB rather than buying a specialist defender; that's what he's done his whole career. When that doesn't work, he's going to start sticking full-backs there (Kyle Walker, it's your turn soon). Using a common sense fix for an obvious problem for Pep is like admitting defeat.

Kyle Walker has already had a go there.

I think they'll definitely buy a CB or two in the summer.

David Silva off this summer, so he will need replacing

They can't rely on Jesus in Aguero's absence , he's proven that so I'd expect a forward to come in to share the burden

Aguero's got 12 til the end of next season before he goes back to Argentina or whatever , can't imagine they wait

Or maybe he’s not quite as good a manager as he thinks he is.

Winning titles in Spain with a Barca team fuelled by peak Messi, in Germany with a Bayern team that has dominated domestically before he was there and in England with a City team with about double the investment of any other team - isn’t exactly breaking the wheel.

He’s as much of a chancer as Mourinho - he just pretends to be all smart and innovative.

Admittedly his teams are better than watching an expensively assembled Mourinho team playing 8 at the back and humping it to some super-powered freak up front.
Pep's style is very very effective with a top team in a domestic league because in most games the opposing team will be forced back to defend and eventually capitulate to the onslaught of attacking high-possession play. Normally over a season that tells.

However, he has failed to ever find a solution for if something goes wrong in a match or if a team has a significantly better than average attacking unit. Its why he has a poor record in the biggest cup competition compared to his domestic form. Other teams are incentivized to attack his team more and if they are brave and maintain possession, it completely negates almost 90% of Guardiola's management. Thankfully a lot more teams have noticed this in the premier league.

Guardiola has only won the Champions League with peak Messi. He took over a treble winning Bayern team and failed to ever match that accomplishment. He has more to prove now than before he left Barca, that's for sure. Klopp has very little left to answer.
