has rafa bought a single attacking player for sub 10 million that has gone on to be a first 11 success?[/quote]
Yossi
Garcia
Kuyt

yea i'll go with garcia - maybe even yossi depending on what he does this season. i thought kuyt cost more and as much as i've grown to like the lad as a striker he is average.
riera, babel, gonzalez, pennant, nunez all brought in to play wide for us have been average. imo pennant is the worst on that list.

Attacking talent costs money. The only massive flop there is babel, the rest is getting what you pay for. I haven't seen any hidden gems coming out of nowhere for any other top English teams. Arsenal had to throw a good amount of money to get a fairly old Arshavin, Man U had a hundred million in attacking talent, Chelsea likewise.
Riera was a sound purchase, Garcia and Benayoun were too. The rest cost nothing. If you want to look at recent glaring errors, its not in the hopeful 5M or less purchases in the bargain bin of attacking talent, it was buying Robbie Keane for no real reason.
