Dirk Kuyt says Steven Gerrard will resume his penalty taking duties next season when the Liverpool captain returns from a long injury lay-off.
The Dutchman has been formidable from the spot in the absence of the England midfielder including his fine finish to rescue a point the recent dramatic 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates and a strike against Newcastle at Anfield last weekend.
Kuyt, who has scored all eight of his penalties since he joined the Merseyside club, expects Gerrard to reclaim his responsibilities, however.
'I think Stevie is a great penalty taker as well. Since I arrived here I have only seen him miss one and he has taken lots. He has scored a lot at very important moments,' he told the club's official website.
'A special one I remember well was in the Champions League against Arsenal.
'The most important thing for the team is that we score our penalties.'
