Gerrard has done nothing to warrant losing the spot really, although Dirk is fantastic.

Not to my recollection.
They're all hit with great pace and tremendous accuracy, right into an un-reachable spot.
A goalie would have to guess correctly and go early to reach one of his spot-kicks.

the one he scored (2nd of 2) to win the goodison derby in 2007/08 was a bit tame and howard got a decent touch to it and on another day could easily have saved it. i think they were the first 2 pens he ever took for us (apart from the CL vs chelsea!) and were under huge pressure - i think the quality's been pretty much unimpeachable since then.
