Oxfam have called it a 'mega distaster' which needs a 'mega response'
Ban Ki-Moon UN Secretary General has said its the worst disater he has seen.

The number of people affected by the disaster has been more than Kashmir Earthquake, Haiti quake AND Boxing day Tsunami put together.

The number of people who have reportedly died is a relatively low 1600 at the moment but with the first case of Cholera was reported a few days ago and with tens of millions homeless and without clean water you can imagine that number will rise sharply.

The millions of children will be affected now without as much food due to the crops being damaged as a result and of course no/little clean water.

There was lots of money and publicity raised as a result of the Haiti quake and I recal there being too many organisations on the ground and causing problems.

It seems that these floods have not raised as much money (£15 million compared with £80 million from DEC)
The Tsunami raised record numbers as far as I remember.

Is this due to the whole war on terror/Taliban thing and people are not bothered about Pakistan?
Or due to Cameron type comments that he made in India?
People not wanting to give money to a country that seemingly cant look after itself
or just cos people dont have much money due to recession etc.
