Even when he was a young player with the Arse I thought he was quite an impressive interviewee. You can see how Klopp, with the emphasis he places on character as well as ability, would take to him.

He's quite posh. He went to St John's public school in Portsmouth. But he's also clearly a decent sort, with a good sense of humour, so it's no surprise he's a relatively polished and confident performer in front of the camera. He'll probably end up as a TV presenter, hopefully replacing the part-time political theorist Gary Lineker.

I suppose if he's never fit enough to play more than 8 games a season, then the club's tour director will have to do.

The club should really try to sell both him and Kieta next summer.
