I think Kuyt will be mainly used as a striker this year, with Henderson being our starting RW. Kuyt can obvs start games at RW aswell. He'll play loads of games aswell this year. No doubt.

my thoughts exactly

Kuyt has usually played either up front, right hand side of a front 3 or on the right of a midfield 4. We've now signed 4 players for huge fees who cover these spots, so it seems obvious that he'll play less.

Indeed, tbh him and Suarez worked brilliantly last season too!

I wouldn't want to forecast whether or not Deadly's likely to get fewer games than before, because I'm not convinced Carroll will be given an automatic place in the side. It's possible, I guess, but I don't really see Kenny doing that with any player - and yes, I do mean *any* player.

i think carroll will start against teams who park the bus becuase he's such a threat from crosses and set pieces. Dirk and suarez up top when there will be more space given (e.g. utd, everton etc)

i do wonder what the plan with henderson is .....my sunderland supporting mates tell me that henderson keeps saying he's a centre mid and wants to play there but most he best performances came when playing out right .

Whether up front or out wide , i still expect kuyt to get games although personally i prefer him up front with suarez than out right mid / attack .

Haha, that sounds familiar

When Kenny plays 4-3-3 then Dirk is a good option for the inside right position however when the team is set up 4-4-2, Henderson should be playing right midfield.
Carroll will come good for us. On the day we signed him I immediately thought about his England debut and was rather excited that he was a Liverpool player. He didn't really get going last season but I'm sure we will see his progress this year. At the very least I do wish he would get shaved even if he wants to keep the long hair. The beard makes him look a tad slovenly.

I think all you ppl need to get over loving dirk kuyt. The biggest problem at liverpool over the years has been that we haven't had any out & out quality attacking wingers that has speed & vision & that can take someone on etc & dirk kuyt certainly isnt in that category. If you look @ teams like the scum united, chelsea, arsenal & now man city you'll find that there wingers are quality, attacking, quick & skillfull and thats a big reason that there so successful. I think stewart downing is a good start for us, but we need to get @ least a couple of more wingers if we are to seriously challenge for the title this year. Look at what ferguson has done in this transfer window hes gone out & strenghthen by buying ashley young when hes already got plenty of quality attacking wingers. Dirk kuyt might be a hard worker that runs all day & a top bloke for all of yous that love him but he should not be palying on the right side or striker either.

so we have all agrred that Dirk should not start on the right then? The debate now seems if he will start up front with Suarez instead of Carroll.

I just don''t see it happening.

People really have to ask themselves why opinions on certain Liverpool players , are so split? I actually like Durk, but he has some very serious limiations.
It gives me no pleasure to criticise Liverpool players and as a match going supporter of over forty years, what would me my motive, and that goes for quite a significant number.
I am with Rafa4 , he will get games I am sure , but nowhere near what he has in the past.

Regards

As if I'm falling for that.

Kuyt will probably start more than Carroll this season.

For good reason too.

Stating the obvious, but it depends what formation we're playing.

If it's 4-4-2, you'd expect Kuyt, Henderson or Meireles to start at right mid(probably in that order).

If we play 4-3-2-1 then it'd be any three centre midfielders with Suarez and Downing in the wide positions behind Carroll/Kuyt.

There's different players for different formations. No shortage of options which is refreshing to say the least.
