Have won 12 in a row. Credit to Mcmohan. He has had them playing some wonderful football combined with grit.

The Finn netted the opening goal with a clinical header from a corner just past the hour mark before Pacheco sealed their progress two minutes from time.

It was a particularly sweet moment for Dalla Valle following his goalscoring heroics in last week's Liverpool Senior Cup semi-final victory over Tranmere Rovers.

Overall it was a hard-fought triumph for John McMahon's side, with skipper Jay Spearing a calming influence in midfield.

It means the Reds' hopes of a possible treble remain in sight, with the league title run-in and two cup finals to look forward to.

Despite a host of fixture postponements, McMahon's men have continued their fine form, winning 12 of their 13 matches since the opening day defeat at Blackburn Rovers.

theres something not right about a reserve team doing really well and the first team doing relatively shit

sounds to me like theres some players that should be more involved with the firsts

"Watch a Dalla Valle goals special>>"

"Sorry, the video you requested is for e-Season Ticket holders only."

That´s just fucked up.

I suspect that it has something to do with the vast gulf in standards between the reserve league and premiership.

Jay Spearing is consistently praised for his performances in the reserves yet has looked out of his debt in the senior team.

Being great in the reserves is just an indication of the players talent and is obviously not a guarantee that they will have a similar impact in, or are even ready to play in, the first team.

How is that Saric lad getting on?
[/quote]

He began to look mighty fine a few months back but then got injured again, don't know whether he's back yet.

He's got to make sure though to be included in the Summer-friendlies with the first team and then show his true colours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll fulfill his great potential.

Just seen the highlights and Saric came on instead of Dalle Valle in the second half and looked lively (though it has to be said they didn't show much).

Dalle Valle seems like such a born goal-scorer doesn't he?

With him playing in the number 9-shirt at one point he almost looked like - dare I say it - El Nino. (Mostly beacuse of the blond looks but still)..

cf Leto.

He was like a man playing against boys at reserve level but couldn't carry forward that confidence in the first team.

Here was the team:

Liverpool Reserves: Peter Gulacsi, Emmanuel Mendy (Jordy Brouwer 34), Steven Irwin, Daniel Ayala, Victor Palsson, Jay Spearing (Captain) (Nikolaj Kohlert 90), Daniel Pacheco, David Amoo, Lauri Dalla Valle (Nikola Saric 83), Damien Plessis, Alex Kacaniklic. Subs not used: Martin Hansen, Francisco Duran.

Francisco Duran!

Fucking hell! Glad to see him back.

I'm just glad for Duran because he was really unfortunate with the injuries. At least he can sit on the bench now.

still theres only one way to know for sure, get them a few minutes in a game for the firsts.

from that reserve team maybe ayala pacheco and dalle valle could be moved up now or in the near future. the likes of plessis and spearing have had a go, so maybe they're too good for the reserves but not good enough for the first team - time to move on?

The really frustrating part of that is that they've only played 13 games all season. How are they supposed to progress when they play so few matches?

Spot on. It's ridiculous.
