everyone's saying kenny wouldn't want to do it which is gutting cos we'll end up with o'neill.

If it's not to be the King, my money'd be on Hodgson. He's expressed an interest before now, and Villa would want a lot of money as compo for MON.

Alex McLeish
Sven Goran Erickson
Mark Hughes

... more like...

Its got to be between hodgson and o'neill, on short term contracts. We need someone to get back to basics, with a proven record of being a good motivator with the ability to spend well on a relatively small budget.

Kenny would be mad to take it and the fans that want him to take it are mad too.
If we were talking "permanent appointment" I'd agree. A caretaker appointment, while the club settles down and the ownership's sorted, would be a very different matter and I'd far sooner see that happen than take anybody else currently in the frame.

Why would they give up long term contracts for a short term one?

I never said they should, but its in our best interests financially, and we're a bigger club and brand than their current clubs, so....

For a short term option, Kenny has to be the best and most likely choice, other than the fact he's saying he doesn't want to of course (but we don't know if that's true).

None of the others are gonna come for something that's likely to be so short term. We're talking about up to a year, but in reality it could be half that, as the timeframe for the sale of the club is the end of this calender year.

One bloke who doesn't seem to have been mentioned in Scolari. I always quite liked him even though he destroyed England's World Cup hopes four years ago.

Who knows how long it could take for the club to settle down. In the meanwhile, Kenny is tasked with revitalising a fragmented and demoralised squad with limited funds and very little room for error. He's been out of the game forever, things have changed and it would just be a bit of a mad thing to do.

It's a job that suits a mercenary like Hiddink or someone who'll just be happy to get the opportunity.

I liked him more when he was destroying Chelsea...

Just read that marcelo lippi will step down after the world cup, he'll get my vote.

He's about 100 years old.

Phil Thompson is a dreadful suggestion.
I know.
I'd still prefer him than martin o'neil.

Not to mention his love for old and ageing players.
How on earth gattuso and cannavaro are in the italian squad amazes me.

I'm surprised Bilic doesn't get more of a mention.
