Coutinho 42 318 37 361 169 13366
Firmino 23 295 22 308 150 6789
Lallana 21 422 19 467 222 8867
Mane 13 187 8 303 116 2427
Wijnaldum 6 556 11 303 196 3338
Henderson 23 812 38 491 306 18667
Sturridge 61 131 21 381 97 8008
Origi 21 232 7 529 132 3706
Can 8 1270 7 1452 678 10163

This would imply that Sturridge, Mane & Firmino are the 3 most influential players hopefully Salah will be similar to Mane.

I am not trying to say we won't miss Coutinho but perhaps he is not as important as other players. The stats would also imply Can is more of a defensive/holding player

The problem with stats like this is that they don't measure how much value a player adds to others around him. We don't and can't know how other players' stats might have looked if Coutinho hadn't also been part of the team (and vice versa).

Influence is so subjective.

For me its mane by a long fucking way, because he is how we want to play
Then its firmino
then coutinho
then lallana/gini

Salah will be as effective as mane this year

but solanke will be top dog

I just love the revisionism & grasping at stats that happens every time a star player leaves (or is close to leaving).

Torres, it was injuries & games played

Suarez, it was goals scored to win points

Sterling, it was "He's not even that good, Ibe will be better"

It's utter bollocks. Coutinho is our best player.

Now personally, I don't trust the fuckmuppets whose job it is to get players in to do their job properly & get us a replacement even half as good, so if he leaves, we'll be a much worse side for it.

Plenty of folk were saying last season how over rated and inconsistent Coutinho was and how we could do better so fair play to the OP for the statistics they would have been seized on a year ago.

I'm not sure what you are getting at here, mate. You are suggesting that Sturridge is more influential than Coutinho, in order to do that you've used stats for the whole of Sturridge's career! It's accepted that Sturridge has barely played since that standout season with Suarez, it's also accepted that Coutinho went up a gear last year; come back with stats for 16/17 only then you might have a discussion on your hands.

He was inconsistent. However most people, myself included said that if he weren't then he'd be playing for Barca. Since then he's shown remarkable consistency & added to his game as well. His international performances have stepped up a notch too.

Its safe to say everyone said on his best day Coutinho was outstanding, & last season almost every game he was showing that form.

Stats showed after his injury he was inconsistent again

Can't be arsed finding the picture thing I saw though.

For me our play went massively down the shitter with mane being in africa or injured. Most people seemed to agree with that at the time didn't they?

Mane is our most important player because he let's us play the way klopp wants us to play.

That's not to say Coutinho isn't better technically or ability wise, he just doesn't do what mane does. There's a reason why a bulk of our targets were lightning tricky wingers
