Shankly...always immaculate and sharply dressed a la Jimmy Cagney.

Paisley...light grey suit, club tie, occasional beige trench coat and all topped off with a flat cap. He dressed his age and I won't ever have any word said against him. Not even for his slippers...

Fagan...I picture him in his European Cup Final tracksuit...which was quite striking in its day but perhaps inappropriate for a man of his age. I also recall a similar grey suit to the one Bob wore...that was nice.

Dalglish...unfortunately for him his first term coincided with the double-breasted suit jacket. He was right to cover that up but not in that horrendous coat he used to wear irrespective of the temperature.

Souness...awful tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts.

Evans...ditto

Houllier...nice suits and he usually avoided the club tie/jacket. I particularly liked the red scarf. Our best dressed manager of the modern era.

Benitez...a good start but the expanding waistline saw his standards slip. Never liked his ties. Made a tit of himself when he switched to the coaching outfit against Newcastle.

Hodgson...I just despise everything about the man. He can fuck off.

Dalglish...see 'Dalglish' above.

Rodgers...trying too hard with the the club suits and ties. The outfit on show against Stoke today was horrific. Never liked his occasional black shirt and his blue jumper always looked a little thin/cheap.

So for me, Houllier has been our best dressed manager of the modern era.

I'd agree. Add same quote for budgie for Rogers. WTF was that suit? The white strip on the ha key pocket. Ah well at least it matched he's pearly whites

You do know that was a pocket square? They're usually very neat and I've been known to sport one myself...but his today was far too wide.

Kenny actually came back with a pretty smart dark suit but then he regressed to that bobble jacket again. A tragedy.

He did. And didn't he start his first term in a nice suit before the tracksuit and coat? There's a great photograph taken during his second term showing him in a grey suit effortlessly controlling a ball on the touchline at Anfield. And then came the coat...again.

Rafa at St James' Park was sublime. I absolutely loved that.

I don't really remember what Houllier wore tbh. Just seemed quite bland to me.

You say bland, I say understated. Nice dark suit, white or blue shirt, quality tie. Never let himself down on matchday did our Ged.

It's the sort of attire I'd imagine Jeeves prevailing upon Bertie Wooster to wear.

Conservative, in the extreme.

Hard to disagree with your descriptions & 'ratings' tbh.

I would say houlliers was perhaps a tad bland most of the time, but in comparison to the others it was definitely a step above.

I think you've overstated Houllier and undersold Benitez. Benitez just got fat, but always seemed smartly dressed to me and I don't think there was much between them. Agree about Houliers red scarf, though. Prefered that to Benitez's red ties.

Rodgers is among the worst because he tries so hard and very rarely gets it right. That combo today was atrocious.

Yeah I thought Rafa often had a nice dash of style. Houllier really was at the edge of smart bordering gloomy.

Houllier was a fucking prick. The fact that my swype thinks I'm talking about Hitler speaks volumes

I suppose so, but he was always very bland. A bit Suits R Us. He probably didn't keep his jacket pockets sewn up.
Ha. That's a pet hate of mine, seeing people walking around with their phone, keys, sandwiches etc stuck into the jacket pockets & the jacket pulling in every direction.

There's a reason they were sewn up! The same reason all those once straight lines in the jacket are no longer straight!

Yes I know lefty, but he wore it like a pillock. Looked like a suit Nike would create

Ha.

You do know that that wasn't a pocket square don't you?

It was a piece of card masquerading as a pocket square.
