Liverpool FC Ready To Sign U-19 French Sensation Gueido Fofana ?
As per recent reports in the media, Liverpool FC and Chelsea are fighting over who will sign the highly rated U-19 French Euro winning captain, Gueido Fofana.
Gueido is a football player of Guinean and Malian decent currently playing for Ligue 2 club, Le Havre. He is a French youth international and has captained at all levels of youth. Fofana operates as a defensive mid-fielder, but can also play as a defender and is known for his physical style of play.
Fofana has played most of his club level football at Le Havre and along with the recently parted Paul Pogba and has been considered widely as a very bright prospect.
Gueido Fofana played a major role for the French U-19 side which won the Euros recently, and is considered as one of their key men at the back.
Incidentally Chris Mavinga, a left back for the French side also hails from Liverpool FC, whom Rafa Benitez , the former Liverpool manager had bought from Paris St. Germain last summer transfer window.
With the Reds desperately needing to strengthen their squad to make up for the imminent loss of a key player in Javier Mascherano in the same defensive mid-field position, the Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has also seemingly chosen to re-unite with one of his former finds in Christian Poulsen from Juventus.
However, it can be considered that the Dane is already a 30-year old and nearing the twilight of his eventful career at club football after featuring for the national team in what was a pretty disappointing World Cup for Denmark.
In such circumstances, considering the stand of the club which has been also been to buy sensational young talents from Europe and all around, the signing of Danny Wilson from the Rangers also goes some distance in underlining the stance.
Although, Fofana has represented France at all levels right from the U-16 to the U-19s, the 19-year-old has recently attracted attention also from the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea too along with Liverpool FC .
Amidst all the interest shown in the 19-year-old, Fofana should still be a relatively cheap buy for the club as opposed to buying already established players at a more senior level.
Fofana himself has admitted that some bigger clubs in Europe want him, but with a year still remaining on his contract, he has also said that such a move could only occur on "good terms" with his present employers.
