I think we've all read the script. Palace will keep the pressure on Chelsea, moving players forward maybe even bringing on Townsend.
Counter attack by Chelsea near the end and Hazard scores.

*Palace pressing (somewhat fulfilled)
*Palace bringing on Townsend (fulfilled)
*Hazard scoring (awaiting confirmation)

This Palace side have absolutely no clue, they're going to get relegated if they;re not careful.

& they should be about 4 down

The fitness of this Chelsea side is incredible, still pushing up and not giving Palace players any space.

Set piece, has to be now or never.

This Palace defence is fucking dreadful. That Chelsea have only scored once is testament to how poor they've been. We'd have scored at least three.

Fucking Chelsea. Another win. Another clean sheet. Another Costa goal.

Great goalscorer, top keeper, miserly defence

It's an obvious formula, but one that we should probably try and emulate

You'd think it was a piece of fucking genius or something.

I find it hard to understand that not one team has worked out how to beat them yet.

Fuck me you are one repetitive boring old fart.

Chelsea's scorers this season.
Costa 13, Hazard 8, Moses 4 then five players on 3 goals.

Liverpool's (one game less).
Mane 7, Origi 7, Lallana 6, Coutinho 6, Firmino 6, Milner 5, Sturridge 4, Can 3.

Whether Chelsea win the league or not is more than likely not going to be down to Costa but their defence (even though they have been as lucky as hell a few times this season with not conceding when their opposition threw away great chances). They are far more reliant on their two top scorers being available and avoiding serious injury / suspension / loss of form, than we are.

Certainly if Costa were to be out for any length of time then you wonder how they'd manage, that can not be said of Liverpool as we seem to be scoring just as many without Coutinho & Sturridge available, as with.

Nah, miserly defence is damned important too.

We had that defensive record, & that keeper with the rest of our side & we'd be strolling this league.

Scoring the goals we do miserly defence is not as important. A decent keeper is essential as we have learnt to our cost. Can you even have a miserly defence without a decent keeper?

Yeah, it's a total fucking mystery that a great goalkeeper, a defence that helps him keep clean sheets and a top quality reliable finisher who can make the very most of chances created in tight games and therefore help your team win 1-0 - a vital score line for Champions - is the most obvious and statistically likely route to winning the title

If we had Courtois and Costa (or any world class striker and goalkeeper) we would be one CB and one DM from the title

Yeah if we had a striker as brilliant as Costa we'd be in better shape. I agree that Hazard would be a wonderful addition also

It's those really tight games when you need to take your few chances that make the difference

But I still think that we shouldn't underestimate or ignore the importance of our *defence* as well as attack.

Both are equally vital, and obviously we need to be far more solid defensively than we have been under Rodgers and now Klopp. That side of our game has been very poor indeed.

Probably not. I'd argue that a defence that's inconsistent will never create a great keeper either though.

Adding Diego Costa to this team would be a marginal improvement at best, I know you absolutely adore twenty goal a season strikers, who doesn't, but we aren't lacking goal scorers at the moment, we'd be strengthening our strongest position. We also don't need a DM for the simple reason that we clearly don't play with one, Klopp likes midfielders who go forward and attack the ball, a more disciplined defensive midfielder who could cover the cracks doesn't really make sense in a Klopp team, honestly when you talk about those two things, the overriding theme I get from you is that you don't want a Klopp team.

Now I want a Klopp team because it gets the best out of our players, the whole is greater than it's parts and all that; simply, we're overachieving at the moment thanks to Jurgen and Buvac.

I believe if Conte managed Liverpool we wouldn't be first, or as high as we are now, so we shouldn't be trying to emulate them as your desire for particular players and proclamations about what wins the league suggests you'd like to. However what is 100% fair is that if we had Courtous and Gary Cahill, we'd probably winning the league right now, they are areas of the team we can massively improve without compromising exactly what it is that makes us so good, unfortunately, I highly doubt we'll get either.

the gulf in quality between the top 6 and the 14 relegation fodders is just massssssssssssssive

the gap between 6th and 7th will be about 20 points imo
