To be fair, it was a shit pass to Martinez too. He wriggled out of a tough situation De Gea put him in, but any defender had probable a 20% chance of losing the ball in that situation. For Maguire probably over 50%.

Martinez was making himself available there, perhaps not asking for the ball, but it is close. DDG however should see that with three lads around the defender, he should go elsewhere.

I agree. Both the goalkeeper and defenders seem to largely unaware of what’s around them. Martinez was saved by a fortuitous ricochet there. The goalkeeper is more culpable as he has the whole pitch in front of him!

I do to some extent. Arsenal won’t be going into the final day to win the league. They’ll be known as a side that threw it away. They’ll have nothing to show for it. The scum still have to finish top 4 and only have the lowest of the cups to show for what should still be classed as a disappointing season.

Do you agree with him?

Disagree. All depends on how Arsenal and United deal with this next season. Football isn't ending this May.

If Arsenal learn from this season on how to construct a successful campaign, manage pressure, go on to evolve and then win the big trophies in the following seasons, then they have had a successful season. If not, it is a big disappointment.

Ten Hag has been lucky we have been shit and Chelsea have gone haywire. If they use knowledge of how to win the small trophies and CL places to compete for the big ones, then their current season can be considered a success. If we get our act together and Chelsea get a manager who knows how to use their 800 players, and United move back to Europa league places next season, then I wouldn't call United season a success also. They just got lucky.

If you don't win the big two - then it is all about what you learn from the season. Our season has been a disaster. But if FSG, Klopp, and transfer committee learn from it and start replacing players, adjusting squad age profile, sign players who don't die every three weeks, and we get competing for the big two in a season. If this season shocks them into action, then it has been a big success than us wandering along aimlessly waiting for the "right" players to sign.

Arse have to be wary of the impact it would have on then on finishing second after being top for so long. Chasing City’s doped machine took a lot out of us each season and the hang over can be huge mentally to be perfect against a perfect opponent. They need to win it this season.

City will win the league with games to spare annoyingly. Treble very much on.

That's my worry. Even if it becomes null and void, those losers will hold it as the greatest achievement in world football.

I keep going back and forth but I don't think I want City to win the title. I can't bring myself to wish that unless Real dump them first.

It seems that there's a majority of Liverpool supporters out there who would prefer City to win, which I just can't get. I fucking hate them, and fair fucks to Arsenal, they've done it the right way and have been largely playing good footy. I always felt that they'd end up being caught, because City are fucking relentless, as we well know.

It's the Arteta affect. He's like a more smug version of Pep (which shouldn't be possible)... with lego hair.

But mostly it's jealousy. If City win it, it's because they're cheats and the odds are stacked against everyone else. If Arsenal win it, our own failures are brought into greater focus.

I also think if arsenal win it, it downplays out achievements over the last few years. Consistent 90+ points a season, all for fuck all. For these north London chancers to come in and "have the best team in the world blud".

I just fucking can't

I was yacking football with a pal who is a Man U fan this week and he is definitely cheering Arsenal on.
Now of course this time last season he and most of his ilk were cheering on Man City because the alternative was Liverpool.
Personally I remember what Arsenal and their fans were like when they were in their pomp under Wenger, arrogant and acting like they invented football, totally blanking out the George Graham era and much of their history. Plus they seemed to love rubbing Liverpool's noses in their then lack of success.
In fact, and I suspect I might be in the minority on this, I would prefer Chelsea or Spurs ahead of Arsenal in the big six
So yea, City winning it again will make me shrug while Arsenal winning would make me squirm.
If it were a total outlier like say Brighton then it would be Seagulls all the way.

For me, it's the opposite. Our best was better than this Arsenal team. We were neck and neck with City for years. But it's hard to downplay a treble, so I want City to come up empty.

Plus, arsenal fans were amongst the loudest when we "bottled it" with Gerrard.

I'm all for equality

Our team was miles ahead of anything have done this year. But at the end of the day, it comes down to trophies on the table.
If unchecked by uefa or the fa, City will do the treble at some point in the next 5 years. It's inevitable.

Winning the league against a chasing city is borderline impossible. You could argue we only did it because we were out of sight by Jan. They decided they couldn't be arsed and went for the CL more

If the gap is under 10pts, they will catch you

It may be inevitable but Ill continue to hope that it's not. Hala Madrid and fuck those oil wankers.

And Arsenal can do one until they win in Europe

I do. It’s meaningless. I do not want them winning the CL and Fa Cup too.
