The jinx rules
1. Never talk of the scum when they are playing
2. Never speak of a rival going behind
3. Never say dead rubber

Sigh, rule number 1 is we don't talk about the jinx. We allude to it with coded signals and outbursts. If someone doesn't follow the rules like shay up there, or lacks the mental capacity to decode the signals like dreamy god rest his soul, then we sacrifice them. It's not rocket science.

I still think United will get 4th. Arsenal have a ridiculously threadbare squad, a crap manager, and they will go on a shit run at some point. They're streaky as fuck

The City, Spurs result doesn't highlight any new weakness in City team, and I don't expect others to be able to exploit them on the back of it.

Spurs tactics worked because they have 2 world class players in Son and Kane, who have combined for more goals than any partnership in PL history. This combo enables Spurs to stick to a 4-5-1 and back themselves to score when needed. Who else can really offer that?

Conte did nothing special, Spurs just have a brilliant forward line who thrive in space and can score from limited chances. Even with ten men behind the ball for most of the game, Spurs still needed 3 goals to win. Very few sides will be able create 3 decent chances, let alone goals against this City side.

In short it's a decent result for us, and hopefully some teams will be a bit more ambitious on the counter, but most lack the pace and quality to really stand a chance.

West Ham have enough quality to get a draw. I have a glimmer of hope that Watford on a good day could bag a couple on the counter, but they will likely have been stifled by Hodgson by that point. Newcastle, Leeds, Villa and Everton will get battered.

The match at the Etihad will be huge.
True. But still I thought their run-in was much easier than it actually is (esp. when taking their commitment to the CL into consideration). Away games at Everton, Palace, Burnley, Wolves, Leeds and West Ham, at least a couple of those will be sticky. There's also hope that United can do City yet again, that derby match is never a foregone conclusion regardless of how the teams are playing. And us of course.

Will Rodgers survive this? I think he will, cos the Leicester owner doesn't seem to be the trigger-happy sort.

They sacked Ranieri the season after he won the league. Unless they go on a great run, I reckon he's done before the start of next season.

There’s something tragic and fragile about Rodgers’s teams. They start off well and then just utterly collapse.

He has had a rough go because of injuries - his best CB (Fofana) hasn't and won't play this season. In and out with Vardy, Maddison, Perriera, Sonuncu, the new belgain kid etc ...
The team is still very solid - could be a dark horse next year.

Else where, Inter are losing 2-0 to Sassuolo at home. Defeat will leave them 2 points behind AC Milan, with a game in hand.

It’s not just this season, though, is it? I agree this one is rather bad for injuries but last season we had a worse crisis yet managed to clinch 3rd from both Chelsea and Leicester.

Last 2 years, he had them in top 4 for 90%+ of the season.
Granted, he rodger'ed but that's no small feat for Leicester ... yes, the league they won but that was a one off considering how weak everyone else was that year (though their team was fucking good - though backline left much to be desired)

Yeah, I have this feeling about his teams too. They play genuinely good and modern football, but always crumble at the end - as we all so memorably experienced in 2013-14… Psychology aside, this Leicester team are the worst in the league at defending set pieces, which might have something to do with their fragility.

They’re biggin scum up like they silenced the critics with that result but I didn’t reckon they were all that good, Leeds concede for fun and we’ll see that Wednesday, scum will get 4th unfortunately.
