Opening Ceremony/Brazil vs. Croatia.

I feel bad that I want Brazil to fail miserably ... I know what will happen to the country, but they are such a shite team and they'll do well (it seems) based on the Qatar help ...

Nice to see Dixon, Cannavaro and Vieira call it bullshit ... and cheating.

In other news : ITV Studio gets pelted by missiles.

Missiles rained down on the ITV studio post match damaging several windows and showering a clearly worried Patrick Viera in dust. ITV anchor Adrian Chiles tried to shift the blame to protesting Brazilians but shouts of 'You're a smug brummy twat Chiles' were clearly audible from the baying crowd below.

More to follow......

Left a real sour taste in the mouth that game.

Between the refereeing and frankly laughable Croatian goalkeeping you can't help but feel the Brazilians were given a bit of a helping hand.

I want them to lose now.

It's a stupid thing to moan about, but I don't care, I'm gonna anyway.

That itv scoreline is way way too big & far too far to the right. It's pissing me right off.
I was saying to my housemate yesterday how weird it looked. Also the board for added minutes and substitutes was shit too.

Gutted for Croatia. I thought they were the better team on the day, or least as good as Brazil. 3-1 completely flattered Brazil. It was never a penalty and Croatia had a legitimate goal disallowed. Terrible refereeing, that really influenced the result.

Brazil look a shadow of their former selves. Apart from Neymar, everyone else was either average or below, in a lot of cases.

Agreed. I feel the same way. Would've liked to have seen them win but I'm firmly off the bandwagon now.

The penalty ruined it for me. I kind of lost interest after that. It would never have been given at the other end.

Also, how do we ever expect diving to stop when refs are giving shite decisions like that? Of course attackers are going to try their luck.

I'm going to see if I can go through the entire tournament without watching a single game. I reckon I'll get through seeing a maximum of 6.

A couple of notes from watching the game live.
Neymars movement off the ball is 2nd to none. Incredible the amount of ground he covers looking for space
He was actually poor in possession a number of times but scored crucial goals when his nation needed him most.
Oscar was fantastic and made the difference. His work for the first goal was sheer brilliance and he took his goal so well.
Was never a pen.
Neymar could have been off earlier
Croatia were Excellent but missed there main goal threat.

No-one is expecting diving to stop though, or if they are they have their head in the clouds.

Diving is part of the game, its just the way it is, shithouse refs like the one last night are more of a problem than divers imo, i don't know how you go about sorting them out but diving is a piece of piss to sort out, the football authorities could almost wipe diving out over night if they wanted to.

Until the football authorities sort it out we just as well accept its part of the game and hope we benefit from it, people harp on about Suarez but in Sturridge Liverpool and England have one of the best divers around, not many are as convincing as him, its so realistic the way he goes over, he doesn't throw himself down or throw his arms and legs everywhere (maybe his arms a little), thats where hes clever, he just falls down when he sees the defender committing himself, the Vidic pen being a good example.

I hope Sturridge or any England player for that matter dives when the chances present themselves for a pen or a red card for an opposition player (especially when the opposition player is on a yellow already), Micheal Owen knew the score and done it, everyone else will be at it, just hope the England players know by now that honesty gets you nowhere in these tournaments.

Heh, he probably should have pointed to the floor and gave a thumbs up.

Someone should have a paper copy of an Oscar tucked down in their sock, and then present it to a player that has made a blatant dive. That would have been hilarious.

That cunt at Fulham that scored 2 goals in his Premier league career hid a Zorro mask that he pulled out after scoring against us. So its doable.
