I think realistically, even with the players we have added, we can't expect to have a sustained run in the CL and yet challenge (or win) the title. It just seems a leap too far.

This year seems to be as good a chance as we are going to get to win it. Citeh is down with the winners' curse and seems to be gunning for the CL instead. Old toilet, we know what's happening there. Spurs are just spurs. Chelski and Arsenal are in "transition". Next year would be doubly hard but for this year, if we have our usual 1 week prep and "forego" the cup games, we would be very hard to beat.

Back to the CL, everybody seems to want to do well and win it this year. Barca, Juve, PSG, Citeh have all made their intentions publicly known. We still have the usual superpowers like Bayern, Real, and some underdogs like Roma, Ath Madrid and Spurs. It is going to be a one hell of a dog fight to get as far as we got last year.

I personally would like us to go 100% for the league. We would never get a better chance than this year.

If we could only win one trophy this year Id pick the league, no hesitation. But its way too early to be thinking like that. Based on todays draw Id be amazed if we dont play a youth team the the league cup. If we lose I wouldnt be arsed about it.

If you’re a Liverpool supporter and we’re given a straight choice between the two (not about probabilities but actual choice between each trophy), you’d have to be retarded not to chose the English league title.

We should give 100% in every damn flipping match and try to win them all. They get paid millions so that's the least they could do.

We struggled badly in the league towards the end of last season. The sharpness was gone and so were the legs after 60 mins. We were clearly prioritising the CL.

We have added 4 players but our front 3 remains the same. It remains to be seen how much Shaq can contribute. At some point if we are still challenging on both fronts the question needs to be asked; which is it we want more.

Yawn

Shite thread. League. Every time. Only a complete fucking melt would say otherwise. Oh, what did Dreamy say?

Perhaps he has factored in the probability of which one he thinks we are MORE likely to win? Maybe?

Because obviously, if it's a straight choice between: "League or the CL, which one would you prefer to win?", then yes, only a total fucking spastic would not choose the league title.

I don’t think probability was mentioned? I, and I assume most others took this thread in a “which would you prefer” kind of way.

You know - I have thought long and hard on this obviously the order of things has to be:-

1) PL
2) CL
3) Other shit.

But I am secretly hoping that someone up in the heavens is looking down at LFC and Klopp - and saying :-

"you know Klopp - you have had enough bad luck - this year I will give you and the team you manage EVERYTHING that can be given"

Amen

Of course I have. I’ve already said I don’t see us winning the league this year. CL is easier to win than the league.

So yes this season CL

Actually think we can compete on two fronts so id go full reserve teams for league cup and FA cup right up to the semi finals should we get there. On the otherhand league cup would be great to take seriously to shake that 'finals loser' tag and fact we have not won anything for years.

Especially before we play the CL final a couple of months later

We have to go all out in the league as we can't afford to fall behind the leader like we did last season, particularly in the earlier stages. The sense of disappointment and anticlimax, give the team/squad we have put together, would totally cloud the rest of the season and the cups would then come with a sense of desperation to avoid the season being considered a failure. Even if we don't win a trophy, if we fail to make a sustained run at the title, that would be the bigger failure.
