Official: Sturridge joins West Brom

So why has the Firmino case not been dealt with? It's four weeks on Friday since the incident took place.

Anyone?

I liked Sturridge, really nice lad, met him last summer and he looked fit, sad to see him go, shame he was never fit.

Clearly there was no market for Sturridge, and that shouldn't be surprising but i still didn't think he'd end up at West Brom.

I think sitting on our bench might have given him a better chance go to the World Cup

I'd think scoring 10 goals for West Brom and saving them from relegation is a better chance for him to get to the World Cup.

This place is going to be great fun the day we draw nil nil and look genuinely uninspiring, whilst Sturridge scores a brace against some bottom of the table wank.

This is a bit cynical really. No one really thinks that now. People did because, you know, he was once one of the best strikers we've had, so while we were short of goals, many rightly hoped that he could get back to his best and fire us to success. It didn't happen, his injuries fucked his career and the rest is convenient hindsight bullshit.

It's a bit snidey to say stuff like, he'll only score against bottom of the table wank. I hope he does well and he gets some fitness and form back, that'll be good for everyone. He's still a Liverpool player and helped give us one of the best seasons we've ever had. It's a shame and by no means his fault that he suffered chronic injuries that curtailed what could have been a brilliant career.

I would say Sturridge fancies himself to be able to do that. If he plays, and there are players around him to do the running, he'll bury whatever falls to him.

Pretty certain he'll be desperate to play in one last World Cup.

He's a very talented finisher, and I'm sure he'll score goals, but just how many het gets will be down to the service and quality of the players around him. And if he stays fit.

And also if he can actually run fast anymore.

There was quite a bit of evidence that suggested a fit Sturridge in 2017 isn't anywhere near as dangerous as a fit Sturridge in 2014, because he'd lost a yard of pace and acceleration. At least.

I'm still bemused at the fact that he couldn't get on our bench, yet WBA are going to pay his wages for the rest of the season and give us £2M into the bargain.

We haven't even 'put him in the shop window' in January, so I reckon our docs know he's fucked and if he plays for half an hour his legs will fall off, but at least he's not our problem for a few months.

I'm still surprised that he chose West Brom over Newcastle.

Fabio (I think) called it, referring to some kind of family reasons, and he is from the area, but it still seems odd.

Fucking Pardew over Benitez?
West Brom are rock-bottom of the league (although I do have a feeling they won't get relegated - hope I'm wrong!)
The Geordies love a big-name striker and the crowds are twice the size.

I suppose you could factor in the ownership uncertainty and the fact Newcastle is a mad house, but still.

I totally get it. Every interview, all he goes on about is his mum and God. He's probably chuffed to bits to finally get close to home for a while.

We know Rafa though, there's no way he'll have guaranteed any player to play every game, it's just not in his nature.

I'd be willing to bet a shiny plastic tenner that he wanted guaranteed games to try to get to the world cup & that cunt Pardew fell over himself to guarantee it.

Yeah, he does seem quite the home-body. Fair enough, I suppose.

But it's not as if it's bloody miles away, or impossible to get to from Newcastle or Liverpool. And he'll have plenty of time to be with his Mum and pray together when he's retired, probably when he's about 32.

Oh well. I would wish him well, but I can't because Pardew's a cunt and I hope they get relegated.

Wonder if he will get in West Broms team ahead of Rondon and Rodriguez though. Newcastle at least have no one up front.

Benitez probably would have played him at left back.

He's in his spiritual prime right now though.

Will he bury the chances he gets though? He has been far from clinical in the few games he has played for us.
He'll probably need quite a lot of game time to get going again, and by that time his legs will have fallen off.
