Daniel Sturridge completes loan move to West Brom

James Carroll@James_Carroll84

Liverpool can confirm Daniel Sturridge has joined West Bromwich Albion on loan until the end of the season.

The striker will spend the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign with the Baggies after finalising the deal today.

Sturridge, who recently marked five years with the Reds, has scored 63 goals in 133 appearances for the club following a transfer from Chelsea in January 2013.

This season so far, the 28-year-old has netted three times in 14 outings for Liverpool.

Good luck to him, hopefully he scores some goals and take points off top contenders. That'd be more helpful than anything he's done in a Liverpool shirt in ages.

Mad that he's written off here at 28, but it's not without justification

Cue Danny Ings to get injured on the 2nd of February and miss the rest of the season.

He’s probably put his back out smiling for the picture with the shirt and will be out for 8wks the giant bag of glass

2 mill £ loan fee and they cover his wages.
Hope we get a decent fee for him this summer.

Remarkable that even with his injuries and struggles he's still nearly a 1 in 2 scorer for the club. And yet still ready to be turned into glue.

Timely reminder before the hysteria commences that Sturridge has scored 2 league goals this season, and 3 in the whole of last season. We're losing absolutely fuck all.

I get that's still 5 more goals than Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke have offered up, but our issue isn't Daniel Sturridge leaving, it's just that we didn't have anyone better than him as back-up to Firmino before he left, and we don't have now either.

I refuse to believe we're shifting him off the payroll without planning to get anyone else in this window.

It may still pan out that way, but I have to believe we're planning to chuck that salary saving towards trying to get someone.

I just think Klopp is sick of looking at him to be honest.

He hasn't been fit for 3 years, and he hasn't played a game since November - what makes you sure he's now fit?

I'm not. I just thought that WBA paying 2m to loan him till the end of the season, would suggest there might be a chance that he is. I know it's a long shot though.

Mad how redundant he became after that season with Suarez.

If we don't sign someone this window, it'll be madness irrespective of his contributions up to this point. I'd rather have a chance fall to him than any other forward we have.

I think we have done the right thing - he's no good for "this" team and the style we play - to be part of a Klopp system you have to be made of strong shit and Studge is just fragile. It's for the best for both parties - and to be honest Klopp knows this. He cannot rely on someone who will be fit for 1 game in every 5.

Gini was in make up for four hours for the medical. Same team that turned Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill. Sturridge is made of biscuits.

I’m confused about this - didn’t Klopp emphasize about “putting the club’s interests first”, including when specifically talking about whether Sturridge will stay on for 2nd half of the season? Unless he suddenly saw something in Danny Ings, that reversal seems strange.

It’s called “bargaining” Rurik. It’s done in many parts of the world as a strategy to increase the desireability and value of an item.

It all looks like he is poise to leave on a free? Surely we won't offer him a new contract and no one will pay us 25-30m for him. Unless he tears it up with WBA? But i want WBA to go down.

It's confusing.

Its all part of a cunning plan. He'll score against our top 4 rivals and they'll drop points against WBA

This place is going to be great fun the day we draw nil nil and look genuinely uninspiring, whilst Sturridge scores a brace against some bottom of the table wank.
