is aqualini a better passer than adam?
Hard to say, they're different sort of players. I would say that Aqualani would be more likely to be mugged in midfield than Adam, though getting that awareness of the pace you're closed down in the PL only comes with experience and Aquaman wasn't given it. I would still say that Adam has the better range of passing from midfield, but Aqua could make the attack twinkle with lovely give and goes and short passing exchanges.

Ive got an observation.
Why doesnt Gerrard shoot anymore?
He had three good opportunities to shoot yesterday and didnt take it on once.
I love a Gerrard screamer and hope to see them again soon.

it's been a feature of this year and last really. It's not just him either. The entire squad seems scared to shoot from the outside of the box

thanks for the answer. I think aqualini is on too much wages so will have to be released but aurelio is not and if we save 8m from the adam purchase we could put that money towards another position on the pitch.

Compromising by putting square pegs in round holes is not what we need. NESV want to spend money to get the right players. Charlie Adam mightn't be that player- I do think we could do with a tough tackling holding player if we don't improve at CD. I know that a perma-crock specialised FB will certainly not do the job. Better to pay 8m IMHO.

Isnt Aurelio on pay as you play?
if he is that is probably the only good 'footballing' decision purslow made.

Don't think so. I think he got a 2 year contract.

Aurelio has nothing like the passing ability of Adam, or the ability to dictate play.
I would need to see both over a longer period of time to make that type of call, from the little I've seen of both aurelio's range of passing has been better. I need to see more of adam.
Spidey, it isn't just passing ability, but the ability to do it in a tough congested midfield. Aurelio had all the action in front of him last night, owing to the way Stoke were set up, and he passed well enough. Finding your team-mates with quality (attacking) passes when the midfield is being contested rather than ceded is a different matter altogether. Adam makes time and space in the most competitive of midfield battles. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that is true of Aurelio. You're admitting you're basing this on very little, and it shows. I like Aurelio, but to suggest he has a better passing range and would be a better midfielder for us than Adam is nonsense.
Nonsense indeed, speculative nonsense at best.

That said, I thought the rest of Neil's original thread post was pretty much spot-on, really good.
