I doubt Henderson will be automatic first choice, because he wasn't even playing full games towards the end of last season.
Whenever he is on the field he will be captain though, much the same as whenever Milner came on and Henderson wasn't playing, Milner became captain.

Captaincy is not just about match day, it's also leadership and example setting in the dressing room and on the training ground. Hendo clearly has the respect of the other players, he sets the example and he looks out for his team mates. He's the perfect buffer between the manager and the players, he had the respect of both. I'd expect him to still be official club captain whether he's playing or not.
Would like to see Trent with the armband after Hendo and Virg
A talented lad that doesn’t do the hard yards in specific situations that others in the same position would do? No thanks.
I’d rather someone like Robbo after Hendo and Virg.
There is a captains group I believe, and I think they are voted in by the rest of the squad.
So Henderson is number 1, Milner was number 2 and the rest are Van Dijk, Alisson, Robertson and Trent.
I guess they will move the order up to replace Milner (Van Dijk probably) and then maybe add one more, probably Salah.

I expect Hendo will keep the armband and Virgil will move up to regular vice-captain. My choice for next in line would definitely be Robbo.
I agree. Captain should not be about talent, but the ability to command respect, motivate and support those that need it. Hendo and Milner are perfect captain material and, in my opinion, much better than Gerrard ever was.
He could put the team on his back and carry to a victory, but he could not figure out how to get others to actually carry their load. He seemed mystified at times wondering why other players could not just play as well as he did, so did it all himself. And, when it didn’t work, he would have a pretty good sulk. I think TAA is like Gerrard.
Ali would be great, but to far from the game. Virg and Robbo definitely for me.
Captain should possess the necessary influence with the referees to convert a red to a yellow and a yellow to a warning. Right now, only Hendo possesses that in our squad. I used to love the penalties Stevie G won us against the blue shite by shrugging at the referee.
Also England captain does not get sent off in EPL.

Everything being equal, with no-one else signed or sold and no-one injured - they’ll be joined on the bench by Diaz, Nunez, Kelleher, Tsimikas & Gomez.
If we sign Lavia, then Thiago is done and in the event we sign Colwil one or possible two of Matip, Robbo or Tsimikas are likely gone.
