Bench warmer a week ago. Hat-trick hero yesterday.

Was this his last "hurrah"?
Squad player next season?

Suarez and Maxi seems to be good mates off the pitch and I worry that if Maxi leaves it might upset Suarez.

Anyway Kenny seemes to enjoy his performance:

If we had to pick between Maxi and Cole to keep for next season, I'd pick Maxi, and it's not just because of his heroics yesterday. Yeah, he goes into submarine mode in games a bit too often but he generally plays within himself and doesn't try to do too much. Cole, on the other hand, would try too hard and take on two to ten defenders single-handedly and end up losing the ball. Maxi also has runs into good scoring positions well, though finishing sharply is another matter (not a problem yesterday though).

Plus, am I right to say he earns less than Cole?

There's nothing new to say about Maxi or cole for that matter.

Their goals don't suddenly make them world class. Both will probably be part of the clear out.

Suarez wasn't put off by Torres leaving just as he arrived, so I very much doubt Maxi going will make a difference either.

Not really bovvered either way. If he stays, he'll be a useful squaddie. If he goes, it'll be because we've found better.

I doubt we'll sell Maxi in the summer. He shouldn't be starting so many games next season, but he's experienced and intelligent and a decent squad player.

He's on pretty high wages isn't he ? he was on insane money at A.Madrid being their captain and all but took a slight pay cut to join us . So i think his high wages and age could go against him , it's exactly the sort of thing FSG are against and want to change . They won't want to waste wages on an older squad player.

At the time high wages was fair enough as he as so cheap. But if you were FSG and you'd bought the company as is, it's a much worse deal. The lack of transfer fee wasn't their lookout.

Yeah I think Krump is right. Having a 30 year old squad player on pretty high wages doesn't fit in with FSG plans I reckon. As much as I like Maxi (on his day) I happen to agree with them.

Maxi's useful enough to have around in the squad.

I'd keep him around for another season.

if you had to choose players better suited for home games and players better suited for away games, then maxi definately comes into his own at home (against packed defenses) but is pretty poor away from home where I think someone like ashley young would really the teams on the break.

I don't have a problem with maxi getting another season but he may be forced out given his huge wages.

If Spearing, Lucas and Christ even Maxi can look better players under Kenny then surely he is worth a go as well.

What the hell?

Anyway, no thanks, Maxi was shit when we needed him, and now that we are ticking along nicely, he shows up. He's a loser with no fight.

You could say that abaa half the team. Maybe even more. No need to knock the fella when he's playing well.

Maxi Rodriguez has revealed his determination to remain at Liverpool and help the club enjoy a successful European campaign next season.

Most Recent News Maxi: Where I see my future Hansen: Kenny is tactical master Spearing: Duo help youngsters Young duo eye title triumph Two live games in two days The Argentine midfielder has been in fine form of late, netting four times in his last two outing.

The No.17's goals have been crucial in helping Kenny Dalglish's side assume fifth spot in the Barclays Premier League and he insists he remains committed to fighting the Reds cause beyond the end of the season.

"I am really happy here," said Maxi. "The people have treated us really well. The type of life we have here, the way of life, is very different to what we were used to after nine years in Spain but I am enjoying everything.

"How can you not enjoy it? I am at a great club and it is great to play here."

A hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition of Birmingham City followed by another strike in the 3-0 triumph over Newcastle has inevitably propelled Maxi into the spotlight.

However, he is adamant personal accolades are irrelevant when compared to the overall success of the team.

"The most important thing is that we won and we still have a chance to improve our finish in the league," he said.

"I can only talk about myself in terms of the fringe players having confidence, but I have always trusted in my condition and in my abilities. and the manager knows that I am ready to play whenever he calls on me.

"Whether I play or not does not matter. The team is the most important thing."

The victory over the Magpies means Liverpool are now in the box seat for a Europa League spot.

Maxi puts the dramatic improvement in results down to the influence of Kenny Dalglish and admits he is enjoying working under the Scot.

"You can see now that the entire team has so much confidence," he said. "Everything comes from results. If the team had enjoyed some better results at the start of the season, we would be standing here talking about other things.

"But now Kenny came and he is a coach who knows everything about football. He has done everything and he is a very intelligent man.

"He is teaching us a little bit of all the things he knows."

He added: "I played in UEFA Cup with Atletico Madrid and Espanyol. It is not the same to the Champions League - that is the greatest competition of all, and the one everyone wants to play in, obviously - but now this team is in a position to get there and so we have to try and achieve that objective.

"Obviously it is everyone's dream to play in the Champions League. Not just for the players, but for the club. That is where Liverpool want to be and deserve to be. But at the moment that is maybe not realistic so getting in the Europa League is our target."

What's your point? He's still brutal but 4 goals under Kenny is a better return that under Roy. He should be shipped out asap.

I dunno, I like his attitude, even if a little too under confident, which is why I can see why he didn't shine in our troubles (more of a follower than a leader). Nice kid, I'd imagine Kenny is on the fence...

Isn't that the problem though? That's why I've got a lot of time for Kuyt, who though he plays poorly for stretches of time, is ALWAYS looking for the ball and trying to do something.

But Kuyt is the worst offender of being shit when the team is shit and playing great when the team is playing great.

Case in point, the arrival of Suarez has pretty much been Kuyt's turning point of the season. Thankfully.

My point is you ever-so-slightly contradicted yourself.

The general consensus is that Aqua is a lame duck.

However, you would have him back "in a cliche", because, even the so-called "shite players" are producing under the new regime.

But, somehow, in your world, Maxi is "brutal".

Even though he's produced more for this club in two games than, blah blah blah......

Must you be such a plank.

I have not contradicted myself.

I think Maxi is rubbish and have done for some time. However I cn still say he has done better under Kenny. He's still shite just a little less shite.
Didn't think it was that hard.

And yes I would give Aquaman a go under Kenny as he's worth a lot of money and is the type of player that could do very well under Kenny's man management and passing football style.

Our alternatives are to let him go very cheap.

We know when Kuyt is shit because he involves himself. Several times this year I completely forgot Maxi was on the pitch.
