NFL Regular Season Thread 2010

I dont have a preference for who wins, but unlike my good friend Whaddapie I'm going for Rodgers to sneak it for the Pack.

I'd like to say that though I want the Pack to win, the Steelers will win. The convict QB, like Terry Bradshaw, just shits Super Bowls.

I wish I could stay up to watch this, been out since 2. Need to be in work by 8.

Come on Steelers!

How shit is this half time show!
About as shit as it is every year.

Great game. Nerves frayed.
21 off turnovers is a joke and thats your game right there.
Well played Rodgers and well done Green Bay, pretty perfect game with the exception of the 3rd quarter.

I actually thought it was one of the better half-time shows. Which isn't saying much, admittedly.

Decent game overall. I didn't have too much of a preference as to who won but ended up betting my roommate and taking Steelers, so I went 0-for-3 on my wagers this weekend (incl. the UFC fights).

Now get the bloody CBA sorted out!
Yup

Season doesn't kick off until September 8th, so we've got nine months before we sort the CBA. Nothing the league loves more than an eleventh hour agreement.

If they were smart they'd have this shit wrapped up by the draft so a) teams could plan their season properly, and b) all the pressure goes back on the NBA, who are already a clown shoes organisation.

I sort of hope we get some replacement football. Always good for a laugh.

Doesn't the current deal run out in March?

And we get to find out who the scabs are.

Yeah, but there's no football. So the deal will run out in March, they'll let the draft happen and then they'll probably lock everyone out over the summer until there's an agreement. I think the chances are better than even that we won't miss any football, but only just. Certainly, I expect everyone's pre-season to get fucked up.

It'd be nice to be wrong about it and see them come to an agreement, but I don't think the owners will budge on anything they want and the players will draw it out. They always seem to convince themselves they have power, when they actually have none. If we come back with replacement football there will still be massive TV audiences and full stadiums. The teams are bigger than the players. Unlike basketball, where the players do actually have power.

The agreement reached will be exactly what the owners want in the end. It always is.

Am I right in thinking if it's not sorted before the draft then in the draft itself you can only trade picks, rather than players for picks?

Yeah. I think it can only be for future draft picks too.

It's going to be a weird draft if there is no CBA. No free agents will have been signed, so you'll get some strange picks. Teams making proper reaches in the first couple of rounds as they are unsure about the future. And trades for picks will be a dog pit. People trying to barter 3rd round picks for 1st rounders next year and shit. Watch Belichick triple his already preposterous war chest of picks.

3 turnovers for 21 points is the only stat you need to know.

Sorry Andy. At least you've got 6 though eh? 😉
Yeah mate. Im gutted obviously, especially because right up untill the last minute we had a shot, and theres something about 2 min warning drills and last minute drives that felt all destinious. But ultimately too many pens and 21 off turnovers.....says it all. Shit because they didnt really have to go out and WIN it, we all but gift wrapped it. Still very proud, it never for a second felt like our year, and we still have a great team so next year we will go again and who knows.
A great season for us and im happy to have seen us in my 4th final.
Long may it continue.

Oh and congrats to Green bay.

The Bengals could have the best roster in history and they'd still find a way to lose. And once you're there, there's no escaping. They never trade anyone. They just keep them until what little soul they have left has evaporated and there are just the husks of broken men left.

Oh, and he's going back to Chad Johnson again now rather than Occo Cinco.

So from the best receiver called Occo Cinco in the league to the third best Johnson.

Marshall was ridiculous. That defence was full of savagery. I think it was Marshall that ran home the fumble return against the Rams in the playoffs after Dent destroyed their QB. Kept on getting fucked by the Skins and the Niners in the playoffs after that year, but for one season they were the best side in history.
