good post. but I am one of those that does not buy into the belief that things have to be done slowly - e.g. getting 2nd before getting 1st or some shit like a five year plan. How did we LFC supporters ever get duped into believing in the crap that came from managers about 5-year plans to win the league ? - we are fucking LFC for fucks sake soon to be the 2nd most sucessful club in the country.
I expect us to win the league every year - and thats what should be expected of the club. What I have learnt in the last 19 odd years is that much depends on the managers handling of the players. You only need to look at our results against the top 4 teams to realize that even with our squad we can compete with them. So for me what it comes down to is the inability of the manager to motivate players against the so-called mid-table and lower sides. Thats where we have consistently screwed up this season and in past seasons. There was no reason why we could not win the league - we have spent a lot of money over the years under both GH, and Rafa, and they should have delivered a title in their tenures but they didn't and you can put that down to bad tactics and management of players.
Can you imagine the likes of Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Juve - accepting a situation where they would not be contenders for the title in any one season ? - their fans expect them to challenge for the league regardless of the strength of their squads - they expect their managers to deliver something every year. I think we have accepted failure to often and for too long - they would never accept a new manager coming in and saying - "I have a 5 year plan to make this team win the league.." - what a shit statement, and pathetic way to say that you will fail.
