So who plays?

I personally think it's important that we finally get a win in the competition.
We should field a strong team with some rotation.

---------------------Mignolet

Clyne-------Skrtel-----------Sakho-----Moreno

----------------Lucas--------Allen
------------------------Firmino
------Ibe-----------------------------Coutinho
----------------------Benteke

TEIXEIRA IS NOT FUCKING ELIGIBLE TO PLAY!

I think Ibe should play this one. He has the pace to Counter them, and he looks like finding better form.

Also would be Nice to see Teixeira again.

----------------------Mignolet------------------------
-Clyne------Skrtel----------Sakho------Moreno-
--------------Can------------Allen-------------------
--Ibe---------------Firmino--------------Coutinho
---------------------Origi-----------------------------

I don't think Benteke is worth risking, as he's struggling to play back to back games, keep him for Palace. Give Lucas a breather.

Maybe rest Coutinho aswell. Start with Lallana

Wouldn't be against it but after the Palace game there's a two week international break and considering that Coutinho isn't in the Brazil squad he should be able to play. Same goes for Lucas.
Clyne might deserve a rest though and possibly Skrtel.

It's gonna be difficult for a few months with the defense, because aside from playing couple of kids more than we'd ideally like to, Clyne, Moreno and Skrtel are going to be severely over-used.

I'd forgot about the International break, but with the travel etc, I still reckon we might leave a couple of players behind. I think it's fairly unanimous though that Ibe should start, and Tex would if he was eligible.

Scary that we don't have a back up right back and a another defensive midfielder.
Sure Flanagan is on his way back, but one year away from football has probably taken it's toll especially on a young player who never really had a chance to establish himself.
We are going to need a one or two signing in January but Klopp doesn't seem to be in a hurry.

Klopp said: “I can’t believe that England is so impatient! It is much more difficult. I have been here three weeks. Everyone tells me ‘you want to buy this player, this player, this player’. But development is to work with the players you have. It’s like if you have a problem with your wife, you don’t want to change every day!

Ha.. I don't know whether Enrique will get any sort of chance under Klopp, but it's gotta be better than having no one else to play there. Although Clyne did well there in the Cup last week, it doesn't really solve the issue. As for the DM slot, there's a few rumours that Rossiter is going to be let go/sold.

Yeah I heard that he's (Rossiter) in a contract dispute with the club.

Rossier is out of contract next summer. Surley we'll be offering him a new one..

He's scouse and well rated. He'll get a new deal

Anyway

Mihnolet
Randall skrtel lobren Moreno
Allen Can
Ibe Lallana Firmino
Origi

I think it is actually important that we try and actually win this competition - because if you win you get a place in the qualifying rounds of the CL. Now as strange and fucked up as this theory might be - what happens if say we do come 4th, and lets say Chelsea win the CL ? - We know better than anyone that it don't take a great team to win the CL - but until Chelsea get knocked out of the competition, along with Man United - we should consider this competition as our only avenue to the CL. Of course if we come 3rd - which is possible then we don't need to worry.

Absolutely not, Ahmed. We have a perfectly decent chance of top four in the league and it would be madness to prioritise a Cup competition instead, with all the uncertainty that entails.

Of all the cup competions - this is now worth more as it is another avenue to CL footy. Coming 4th can be a risk just ask Spurs.

Moron

  • GK – I would like to see more of Bogdan and test him against decent opposition
  • CB – Give Sakho a rest and give Lovren a run out alongside Skrtel
  • FB – probably Randall and Moreno
  • CM – I would have gone for Allen and Milner, but both are in such a bad mental state at the moment, I'm afraid pairing them up will produce a very sad and depressed midfield. Lucas and Milner it is then, rest Lucas for Palace so he won't miss the game vs City with a yellow card.
  • AM/WF – Definitely Ibe, and probably Lallana and Firmino (for 60 minutes). Such a pity Teixeira is not eligible!
  • ST – Origi to start, Benteke as a sub. Origi should be instructed to look for space on the wings as much as possible, opening the middle for Firmino, Lallana and Milner.

----------------------Bogdan---------------------
Randall------Skrtel------Lovren----Moreno
--------------Lucas-------Milner----------------
Ibe-----------------Firmino-------Lallana-----
----------------------Origi------------------------

Any news on Rossiter's fitness?

I'd give Firmino a run up front for this game instead of Origi, as we need to score goals and win this one. Either that or give Firmino and Benteke a half each up front.

I can't imagine for one moment that Klopp will not follow his own template and play a couple of youngsters and instead go with a near full strength team some people have posted. I'd be surprised at less than 5 changes to the team versus Chelsea.

Bogdan, Origi, Allen and Randall to come in for sure. Ibe and Lallana to start. maybe even Firmino to help him gain fitness. Benteke to come on for the last 30 mins again. Clyne to get a well deserved rest. I wouldn't be surprised to see Milner rested too.

I think I know where you got an idea for this avatar 🙂

Like I said before, after the Crystal Palace game this weekend there's a two week international break.
I'm not sure if Wilmots will risk Benteke after he just returned from injury to play in two friendlies.
Firmino, Lucas and Coutinho haven't been picked for Brazil.
I agree that Clyne could do with a rest but the others are OK.
I could be totally wrong here, I mean considering the travel distance (11 hour flight) but we need to take the competition seriously, especially after 3 draws.
