According to the French media, West Ham have had a bid accepted at 15 mill £ for Remy.

The player wants to joing us, and we have apperantly agreed a 5 year contract with him, but haven't agreed a fee with Nice.
Remy wants to join us though.

He won't be joining us, because we can't afford the transfer fee
Which will be irrelevant if Remy declines to join West Ham because he wants to join LFC. Nice will then have to negotiate an acceptable (lower) fee or not sell him at all.

Nice president Gilbert Stellardo says Liverpool will jump to the head of the queue for Loic Remy if they match West Ham's offer.

The Hammers have matched Nice's €10million (£8.4m) asking price for the 23-year-old, but their instalment proposal is not to the club's liking.

Stellardo says the club are happy with the value of West Ham's offer, although Liverpool will be in pole position should they match their rival's bid.

Nice have no qualms cashing in on the France international, but insist they will require all the money up front and will not settle for an instalment plan.

Remy is one of France's hottest properties having scored 15 goals in 33 appearances last season and Tottenham are also rivalling Liverpool and West Ham for his services.

Status quo

"For the moment it's the same status quo, but if Liverpool make an offer things will be done swiftly," he told L'Equipe.

Soto apparently isn't in Roy's plans and the club will be accepting offers of 3 million euros.

According to Greek radio anyway.

I've got nothing against the Greek, but i'd not be upset to see him leave. We've got 3 very good CB's and one of the youngsters (Ayala/Kelly) can take the 4th spot.

Ayala is going out on loan to Valladolid.

I'd like to see Kelly get some opportunities this season provided he stays fit. Ideally at fullback to begin with but maybe the odd CB appearance as a sub or in the league cup.

Unless we're counting on Kelly for CB or one of the other youngsters, I don't quite see the point of getting rid of the Greek. We'll only have to bring someone else in to replace him, surely.

I quite liked him too, but he's very slow, as is Carra. It wouldn't do us any harm to have a quicker reserve CB. Although I do like the fact that he's a beast in the air. I guess we need to raise funds for other, less covered positions though. I'd rather have three CBs and two LBs than four CBs and one LB, especially as our most of our best young defenders (Kelly, Ayala) seem to prefer playing centrally.

Has that been confirmed Keni?

Maybe we will replace him with Danny Wilson, that 18 year old Rangers defender.

Good point!

the way I see it is this;

* we have a paper thin squad
* we don't have a lot of money to spend
* mash will leave (its more likely than not)
* he'll be expensive to replace (properly)

so I would pay the lion's share of the transfer kitty on a striker and CM and hope that our supposedly talented youngsters can pull up the slack for the rest of troublesome positions in the team rather than buying several low grade cloggers to pad the squad out.
That's daft considering we've NO left backs.

TBH I think we've probably got Figueroa or Konchesky already tied up, just some T's to cross and I's to dot.

Konchesky can fuck off

Not sure myself, a few years ago maybe. Still you have to ask the question is he better than anything else in that position we have had for the last few years, and the answer is, in my opinion, yes.
So it's a step in the right direction, and it gives us time to see if a youngster is likely to step up to the plate.
I would prefer the Wigan man

regards

I think we'll get some defensive utility player who can play everywhere poorly, a meh left back, a good but not fantastic striker, a meh winger, and god knows what for Mascherano.

Indeed, he's worse than Insua!

I had high hopes for Insua, but he fell well short last season, part of it not being his fault, but I certainly don't think Konchesky is worse than hi. Konchesky is not a great player, and in my view a slightly better than average one, which, as I said is better than anything we have had in that position for a couple of years

but probably 1/5 the cost...

We are going to sign a cheap left back to provide cover to whoever is our starter- i think there are worse options out there than a cheap Konchesky as back up..

As long as he isnt targetted as our first choice LB ill be happy.
