A key member of Jurgen Klopp’s backroom staff has left Liverpool to join a Premier League rival.

Mark Leyland, who worked as a performance analyst with the Reds, has left Anfield to link up with Newcastle United.

The 36-year-old will now have a more hands on role at Newcastle, shifting to become a first-team coach analyst.

New Magpies boss Eddie Howe worked with Leyland during the pair’s time at Burnley, which the latter left to join Liverpool in 2013.

They can poach all the backroom staff they want. With that squad they're not heading anywhere but relegation. Unless 3 other teams stink up the place even more than they do obviously.
