Lovren is the better player but his brain farts negates any advantage. I will go with a consistency in being slightly better than average which is Matip.

Heard a nice example of how Rafa isn't sentimental at all earlier.

Torres gets a hat trick, everyone signs the ball with well done, congratulations etc.

Rafa signed it with "You gave the ball away 8 times today"

Although imo that's just his sense of humour, but it does still show his lack of sentimentality.

On the Matip/Lovren question, IMO they've both missed playing with a back four "general" who can get things organised (Lovren's tried to do it himself but it hasn't worked, and I doubt Matip has it in him). With van Dijk doing that, and Keita (and hopefully A.N.Other) getting stuck in further up the field from next season, I'm hoping for better from both Lovren and Matip in future as I reckon fundamentally they're better players than they've been able to show thus far.

Yep. They've both looked better alongside VVD, & although both have occasional brain farts, he bollocks them for it & you can see him marshaling their positioning to try to ensure it isn't an issue.

That marshaling & bollocking them should help reduce their errors.
