New striker

With Hodgson coming out and saying that he's in the market for a new striker to take the burden off of Torres, who do you want/think we'll sign?

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2010/08/07/liverpool-fc-boss-roy-hodgson-keen-to-sign-new-striker-100252-27015079/

I'm presuming that Poulson in for Masher (and Insua's potential fee going straight on a new LB) would mean that Roy would have at least 15m to put towards a quality striker so who should that be?

Remy appears still to be a possibility but I have my doubts given he's 23, uncapped and his agent is shamelessly whoring him around.

Suggestions?

I'd take Defoe in a heartbeat but I doubt that Spurs would sell.

Darren Bent knows a thing or 2 about getting goals.

bellemy

And he'd be a bargain at 7 or 8 million. Feel like he'll go to spurs though, although hopefully he'll feel like he has something to prove back here if we go for him.

It'd be great if we got him back, he's versatile, quick and a good foil/stand-in for Torres.

I heard he is a good golfer as well!!

I would rather go for santa cruz.

Hahaha a few weeks ago I was criticized for suggesting Bellamy for his versatility and pace!

I wouldn't mind Bellamy back but that fee's too high IMO. He's 31 and has only one, maybe two at a pinch, of his best years left. £5 mill.tops for me.

Wasn't it reported just last week that he can go for 3 Million?

That's much more like it.

Someone Young, strong, talented and pacy..

Too much to ask?

Carlton Cole?

He gave us fits last season - might be an excellent back-up to Torres.

Fits the bill, no?

Gyan's d.o.b.is 1985? Yeah, and the rest.

I'm not a massive fan of his TBH (strong player, but not much in the way of skill). However, I guess we could do worse provided (a) the price is right - i.e.low - and (b) he's willing to accept that he'll be second choice.

Gyan looks about 35.

Bellamy is a good option, but as with the last time he was here, I don't think we'd see the best of him.

Adriano on a free would've been a real exciting option. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on at Roma this year.

The worrying thing is that despite having need of a striker for fucking ages we aré still debating it.... We aré Fucked without one and we should have got one by now skint or not.

It'll probably still be Remy. Once their options start to evaporate (as they are doing) then the price will come down too.

Remy he will be Liverpool's new No 7

He has come out saying he is in no rush to make a decsion after having talks with Stoke.

The truth is he is holding out for Liverpool to make an offer for him, and that cannot be done till we have sold Mascherano

Gyan would be a great signing as he can also play upfront on his own. He gets my vote

I would like to direct you to the chapter in our history with african players.

I dunno, Hodgson didn't seem very sold on Remy.

If we've really got £15m to spend, we should be after someone PL-proven like Bent.

If more, then a potential superstar like Benzema.

If less, then a golden oldie like Klose or Bellamy.

At this point I'd be happy with any of those.

I'd be interested in:

Cruz
Bellamy
Crouch
Bent

As per usual, Bent would be my first choice, because he's very good at scoring goals.

the reason I want bellemy is he is comfortable playing in a wide position and many of the names being mentioned aren't.

Why do we need another wide-playing striker when we've got Kuyt and Jova already?

The one asset Bellamy brings is pace, but you'll always have to go 442 to play him as a striker.

We need someone to bang in the goals when Torres is out, and I'm not convinced Bellamy is prolific enough.
