Durant back with the Warriors at 2 years/53 mil. He's taking a pay cut of almost 9.5 mil a year. That's insane.
Meanwhile, Gordon Hayward will make his decision today between the Jazz, Celtics and Heat.
Also, Derrick Rose might be going to Milwaukee. Don't like that move. It might restrict Giannis unnecessarily.

Every article will go on about 'giving up' money etc etc ... He went to a 73 win team to win the title, and wants more ... so he'll take less than 30m to do it ... ha ha so loyal!
Hayward goes East to Celtics. Going east gives him a better chance of making the finals though, instead of fighting through the really congested west.

Well, at least some talent going from West to East.
Utah might struggle for a playoff push now that they've lost Hayward and Hill. Diaw, IsoJoe are ageing role players. Ingles is strictly a role player too, and he isn't particularly young.
Favors post-injury isn't the same player he was. Rubio is what he is, a flawed point guard. The only young pieces they have now are Gobert, Hood and Exum. They could be candidates for a rebuild soon.

I like that move. Patterson is a poor man's Millsap. Good three point shooter, and decent defender. They're also re-signing Roberson.
Adams-Patterson-George-Roberson-Westbrook is a good starting line-up. I want to see them make the WCF this year.

Quality defender though. Pretty amazing though that someone playing 30 mins a game, averages just 6 points a game. I mean you'd figure someone who has played organised basketball for 10 years, gone through college and then the pro ranks, would have picked up some basic scoring skills?

So quick questions - if the playoffs were to begin today, where do you think San Antonio, with last season's lineup (say Simmons returns) places in the Western conference playoff rankings now.

4 teams are locks - Warriors, Spurs, Rockets, Thunder.
The other 4 spots are open for the Nuggets, Blazers, Clippers, Twolves, Grizzlies and Pelicans. Finding it very difficult to pick 4 from that group. I'm most confident about Nuggets for some reason.

Blazers are a lock in my opinion - they're a different proposition with Nurkic, and I think were among the top 3 teams in the regular season after the All-Star break with Nurkic. I fancy the Nuggets as well, and I think the T'Wolves have too much talent not to make it, though they need more depth.
I'm not sure if the Pelicans' Cousins-Davis experiment will eventually pan out. Cousins is in his contract year and if things don't work out well by the trade deadline, the Pelicans might be tempted to move him instead of losing him for nothing. Some contender might be willing to move on him to improve their chances in the playoffs, even if it's a risky bet on him re-signing.
Just in: Utah and Boston talking sign and trade now that could send Crowder (and others) to Utah for Hayward.
Also: Pacers waive Monta Ellis, and Warriors pick up Nick Young (1 year, 5.2m - their reduced MLE).

Oops, Hawks don't match.
Jamal Crawford bought out by Hawks and heads to the Wolves for a 1+1 (player option) / $9m. Instant offense from the bench, and more experience. Minnesota making all the right noises in the summer.
Enjoying watching Summer League action for the last few days. Tatum has been very impressive for the Celtics, showing great poise and polished scoring. Think he has the highest floor of any prospect in the draft - see is him as a rich man's Tobias Harris at the very least. Don't know how much he'll get to play though since has Hayward, Brown, Crowder and Marcus Morris to compete with.
Other impressive players have been Fultz (who's now injured), Donovan Mitchell and Dennis Smith Jr.
My early pick for rookie of the year is Dennis Smith Jr. He'll get a lot of playing time at Dallas, and the kid has crazy athleticism and talent. Reminds me a bit of Steve Francis. The rep against him was that his bad attitude, but I think working with a coach like Carlisle should fix that. The knee injury was supposed to be a concern too, but he looks fantastic at the moment from an athleticism standpoint.
De'aaron Fox and Josh Jackson have showed their strengths and weaknesses in equal measure. They'll both need time to fix their shooting.

I don't like the way their roster is constructed to be honest.
Towns and Butler are stand-out players, but it's not a very coherent looking team. Firstly, are they going to play a modern fast-paced game, or an old-school grit and grind one? It's not very clear. They don't have much shooting. Wiggins and Teague are poor defenders. Gibson and Dieng are throwback PFs, who don't really have a place in the modern game. I'm not sure how it's all going to come together. I certainly don't think they are a lock for playoffs. I see them battling for 8th place.
Watched some of his highlights too (Smith) and he looks like a player ...
