Mancini has come out and said more or less that If/when Tevez is off, they'll move for Aguero and that Nasri is a difficult situation but he hopes to have him signed by the end of the month?

Some squad they'll have, yet they still won't finish in the top 2.

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

They're been a lot more hit than miss in signing strikers. Robinho, Adebayor, Djeko, that's about 70m right there.

at least we got downing.

This kinda post annoys me. Seems people are not getting it at all and conveniently forgetting we signed the likes of doni as well..really don't know what it takes to excite some people

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

De Jong Barry
Silva YAYA Nasri
Aguero

They could have some team and you could see Barry being replaced with a bigger name as well.

Nah, we're buying all the CM in the world so they can't

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

i'm probably in a minority of 1 but personally I think Aguero is slightly overrated and that they'd actually be quite weakened if they lose tevez . Don't get me wrong , i don't think aguero is shit or anything but tevez plays a major role for them , he's got a strong work ethic and creates things for himself . Aguero can create but he's mainly a finisher with less of a work ethic and can easily go missing in games , to fit him in they'd really have to change their tactics away from the one main striker .

And nasri is decent but he only had half a season at a top, top level form.

I agree with the Tevez v Aguero part. Tevez has also been a leader for them. Not sure if Aguero will.

I think that's a fair comment mate, I agree Tevez is one hell of a talent to lose.

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

Tevez is a leader, aguero isn't. I love kun, but he's not what city need

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

If Tevez is intent on lining his agents pockets with another move, and that seems to be his main motivation in life, then they could do alot worse than replacing him with Aguero. Not exactly a like for like replacement and Kun wont cover as much ground as Tevez but honestly if they are trying to build a side to win a title then they need shot of Tevez, top player when motivated but his attitude is poison. People talk about him as a leader but he is not the sort of guy you want to build a team around, hes one of the most selfish players around, they would be better off with Kompany or Yaya as captain because he really is a spoilt little child. His constant agitation and need to be coddled has reached the point where he is more hassle then hes worth and with potentially Aguero Balotelli Dzeko to lead the line they're not short of options, should the offload Adebayor Santa Cruz and Bellamy then they might even buy another striker. Cant see them finishing lower than 2nd, they are genuine contenders this season

I don't think I've ever seen Tevez take the field without being motivated; he just can't help himself. He's a leader, an inspiration and covers more ground than any striker in the world today - Kuyt included. No dispute about the agitation but the benefit of Tevez far outways the negatives. He will be a huge loss. Aguero would be fantastic for us - but we'd be lost with him if he didn't have the energy of a Suarez or Kuyt to support him.

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

Exactly wiz, say at you want about him off the field but on it, he's never appeared anything but totally motivated to each of the three prem sides he's played for.

He's exactly what a team who want to win

Agree hes always been highly motivated once he gets onto the pitch but football is a team game and the dynamics of a dressing room are complicated, the way he conducts himself off the pitch is the polar opposite of how the captain of a club should behave.

As for being exactly what clubs at the top are looking for well it seems pretty obvious that his attitude was not looked upon favourably at Old Trafford when the option to buy up his contract came around. No doubting his ability as a player but if I were a city fan Id want rid of him, you wait 30 years for a trophy then when you finally win one the club captain who happens to be the best paid player in the country has to be threatened with a fine to attend the victory parade, no thanks.

city will be inconsistent as ever until they sort out their manager.

Mancini learned a lot in the 2nd half of last season. I think they will kick on if they get the players they're targeting. Although Tevez is a massive blow.

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

Before we start this is just what I am hearing from a number of sources and might not be 100% true.

It is rumoured that Liverpool and Man City have agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid for Aguero. Personal terms have been put forward by Liverpool and Man City and it is now up to the player to decide where he is going by the end of the week.

Is he in it for the money or the football only time will tell.

http://www.lfc-news.co.uk/2011/07/19/rumours-liverpool-agree-fee-for-aguero/?

Surely not?
To good to be true

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

no fucking chance ... i can't believe he'd come to us with Shitty, their millions and European footy. I know I know, some will say 'Suarez' but we struck gold with Luis ... We surely can't do it twice in a period of 6 months ... surely.

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

I dnot see Mancini playing the same brand of footy they played last season.

I think City will be a lot more attacking, he hasn't been the type of manager to always play within himself, & I think they'll look a lot more expansive this year. They'll surprise a few people IMO.

Re: Aguero and Nasri to City?

*If* that news is true it suggests we still have some money to go out and buy a 'marquee' type signing even if it is not Aguero.
